About this listen

I was sold to my enemies.

The Butchers of the London mob, who run an empire built on sin and greed. The stories I’ve heard about the way they rule their underworld are enough to make my heart race. But those rumors have nothing on the truth.

Danny, Church, Frank. The three men who own me now. The head of this so-called kingdom and the two savages who enforce his wrath.

They made a peace deal with my family, which came at a cost—me. A mafia princess gifted to them as a bride.

So here I am in my white dress with a gun to my head and a knife in my garter.

I won’t become their plaything. I won’t become their prize.

The war between our families might have ended with this union, but I’m starting a battle of my own. And I’ll trade my body for a chance to leave this wedded bliss behind.

The only question left is whether they’ll be the ones bleeding out, or if I’ll end up with my heart torn from my chest and fed to these hungry British dogs.

This is a dark mafia romance where the main character will end up with more than one love interest and is part of a series of stand-alone books, Mafia Wars.

Perfection!

I am so happy I got this book on audible because the narration definitely elevated this book even more. I wasn’t exaggerating when I say Perfection! The writing, plot, and smut are all 5 ⭐️s. This is my first Caroline Peckham, Susanne Valenti book and I can’t wait to add more to my TBR. I mainly read books on mg kindle and occasionally I will listen to an audio book, if you’re trying to decide DEFINITELY listen to this one. Narration is amazing in it. Highly recommend

Good story, mediocre narration

The story itself is engrossing, with lots of suspense and surprising turns. Unfortunately, the (really) bad and inconsistent accents distract from a good story. (BTW, Troy, infinitessimal has 6 syllables, not 5.) I enjoyed reading the book much more than listening to it.

Read the book, skip the audio book.

Loved this story

I read it when it first came out and devoured this story. The Narrators took it to the next level. A mafia princess who’s part of a pact that the families came up with to keep the peace. She has to marry a member of the English family. Just listen to this story it’s got everything, it’s dark and violent but appropriate for the story line. There’s found family, laughs, cons, a little kidnapping and a very satisfying honeymoon-

It was…okay.

Let me preface by saying that I LOVE the Twisted Sister authors, but this story…lacked. I almost DNF, but pushed through because I didn’t want to disappoint C&S (as if they’d ever know).
I always love their female leads. They’re witty and independent but for some reason this story just always had me wanting more.
For spice factor, this book get 5/5 peppers, but the story? It’s hard to explain, but even with 26 hours, I was just left unsatisfied.
As for the narrators, I think they did a great job! Only thing that would make the audio better would be duet narration.
I don’t regret listening, but it’s not one I would listen to again.

Mafia wars best

Definitely one of the best Mafia Wars books I’ve listened to. I would say at least #2 in my heart lol

Phenomenal story and performance!

1st person/multiple pov
Spice: 4/5

My god, there was so much happening in this book - I mean she is pretty thick. I started reading this when it was released back in March and thanks to being a mood reader I got sidetracked. So when the audiobook came out I decided it was time to jump back in with it because, Troy Duran - enough said lol.
The audiobook quickly reminded me why I love the sisters and their writing. They can take a dark story and add so much humor to it that it doesn't feel like you're reading something that isn't a lighthearted fluffy romance. You get the best of both worlds, a dark romance that doesn't feel quite so heavy on your emotions and the laughter it causes makes you feel like nothing can bring down the good mood it puts you in. Then of course when you have narration from two people like this one does, the audiobook just makes it twice as good and laugh twice as hard.

I wound up reading the final book in this interconnected series before finishing this one (heads up - if you don't want spoilers just avoid that epilogue until you finish the others in the series) so I had already met Anya's brothers. The way they described their sister I knew I was going to love her character before I even started. I was not wrong. Anya is a spitfire! She has so much backbone and after the way she's treated when she first arrives in London it was obvious that she wasn't going to be walked on by anyone. But my favorite thing about her is how much music means to her and how vital it is to who she is as a person. I can relate to that in so many ways it's not even funny. It was like I could see bits of myself in her story anytime her music was brought up.
As for the guys... Danny can take a beautiful swan dive of a leap from the highest building in the UK. That's all the time I'm going to spend on him. 𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘨𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘪𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘵𝘰 𝘸𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘦 𝘢 𝘷𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘢𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘦 𝘭𝘰𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘩𝘢𝘵𝘦.

Moving on. Franky boy... whew Frank was a shock to my system as much as he was Anya's. He was so cold and anger seemed to be his only emotion when we first meet him I wasn't sure how much I would like him by the end. But once he started connecting with her through her music I knew he was going to potentially be my favorite. And if I wasn't already warming up to him before that first scene at the Duck and Dog I would have firmly been team Frank afterward! I mean sweet lord... how could you not fall for a man with that level of confidence and talent right? (𝘍𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦'𝘵 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥 𝘪𝘵 𝘺𝘦𝘵 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘪𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘦𝘦. 😉)
Then we have Church. Oh my god, he is the Leon of this story so of course, I absolutely adore him! This is where the sisters excel is with characters like him. He's confident but not annoyingly so. He's smart but also sometimes lacks common sense and it gives him this innocence that you can't help but love. And he's hysterical! So much of the humor and my side-splitting laughter came from scenes with this man. I got excited every time I saw that the next chapter was from his pov!
As for the king of London, Mr. Benny Butcher himself well, you can't help but love him too. After all, he is determined to right the wrongs of his stupid brother. Even with almost everyone around him against him in one way or another he stays firm in acting the part he's chosen to play without becoming his horrible brother in the process. He also lets Anya have quite a bit more freedom than most mafia men in his situation probably would have. For a leader of a criminal empire, he's not really that bad of a guy, to be honest. Of course, all the guys are hot as sin which makes for some very satisfying (and sometimes comical) spicy scenes. Oh, and if you like extended epilogues well they give you plenty of it with this one which was so awesome.
Don't let the size of this baby steer you away from it either. I know it's quite a large read but honestly, everything about it from start to finish is worth the time it takes to read it no matter how long that may be lol.
As always don't forget to check the TW/CW! I mean it is a mafia romance after all so even under all the humor it's still on the darker side.
If you like audiobooks or even if you don’t I highly suggest grabbing this one in audio - you will not be disappointed! The actors really captured the personalities of each character and brought them to life.

Forget- Me - Not Bombshell loved it

The Narrated Laurie and Troy did such a wonderful job bringing this story to life, I absolutely loved hearing this on audiobook and they brought the characters to life in every way possible and I could not stop listening to this and you really felt like you where apart of this book and I could not stop recommending this to my friends and suggest everyone to give it a listen,

Steamy romantic bombshell

So good! This was my first mafia romance and I was NOT disappointed at all. It gave me peaky blinders vibes.
