Publisher's summary

In this revised edition of a formerly four-volume work, James Boice provides an overview of all the major doctrines of Christian theology in one volume.

Boice carefully opens the topics like the nature of God, the character of his natural and special revelation, the fall, and the person and work of Christ with scholarly rigor and a pastor's heart.

The text then covers the work of the Holy Spirit in justification and sanctification and closes with careful discussion of ecclesiology and eschatology.

Throughout the book Boice maintains a remarkable practicality and thoroughness that will benefit both students and pastors alike and will make Foundations of the Christian Faith a standard reference and text for years to come.

Masterful treatment of a systematic theology

Each section is divided into its own chapter, which makes easy stop and go points. Unlike the audible version of calvin's institutes you can follow along easily and stop just about whenever you want. The theology is solid and practical. The reading is standard audible reading that can get boring but the material is excellent.

Stellar in every way! Deep, Devotional Style!

What made the experience of listening to Foundations of the Christian Faith, Revised in One Volume the most enjoyable?

I love RC Sproul's Foundations, but this work, though similar after a fashion, is actually more heart-warming. Get the book! I feel as though I am sitting in a class listening to Boice as his warm embrace of experiential theology is communicated with clarity and power. Denison is excellent in his treatment of the material.

Exactly what I needed and wanted

First, the voice is a solid choice. I have an audio book that I also have a print version. I love the book but the voice annoys me. This voice is pleasing to hear.

That aside, this book is rich in doctrine and gives an astounding apologetic of scripture and our faith. I wish I had found this book sooner, but it is nice finding it late and then finding that my own studies have led me to correct doctrine. I suggest this book for use in church groups. This is the first audible book I have ever suggested and will continue to suggest it to others.

Theology Matters!!

I really enjoyed the way James Montgomery Boyce breaks down theology and how listenable it is. Highly recommend this book for all of those seeking to know and understand God‘s word more.

A gem!

So much theology packed into one volume. Lots of good examples and not just a dry exposition. A true treasure!

Great book!

This book highlights the need to have the Bible and it’s faithful preaching shape the church and call us to uphold the foundations of Christian living. Worth the time,

My "go to" bible supplement.

A great systematic theology for the average person....if I could only own two books it would be this book and the Bible.

Narration was excellent.

Thorough and fair, but not weak

This is an excellent and quite complete explanation of Christianity. The author covers most of the important topics relating to what it means to be a Christian from a Biblical standpoint citing supportive verses in enough detail to give the listener a sound basis for understanding Christianity. Certainly many topics can be expanded upon, but further exploration of these topics are best left to dedicated works. This book is detailed enough that I can't really say there is anything lacking here. It really is a very good foundation toward knowing and understanding God's Word regarding the why's and how's of His plan of Grace for humankind through Christ's life, death and resurrection.

I found Mr. Boice to be fair when addressing a topic, or particular point about a topic, where there might be some disagreement amongst Christians about which view is the correct view. He expresses the various viewpoints and if he feels strongly enough about a particular position being Biblical verses non-Biblical, he firmly asserts that view and provides scripture to support his position. This is a good thing in light of so many straying from sound Biblical Doctrine, sadly including entire churches and even denominations. Christians must stand firm on what we know is true and is confirmed by Scripture and not allow twisting or reinterpretation by those who are not comfortable with God's inspired Word as it is. The author does this when expressing popular abhorrent views that stray from important Doctrine that is so far removed from what Scripture actu says as to likely take anyone holding that view away from Christianity altogether whether they realize it or not.

He expresses many ways in which modern Christianity is not what it should be in the sense that churches and Christians are not acting in a Biblically Christian manner. This seems very clear to me as well and it saddens me, but we as Christians need a real revival in our hearts. We need to be active Christians carrying out the commands of Christ in all their love, particularly in sharing the gospel and loving others. We need to do this boldly and fearlessly, but always with a gentle spirit, patience and understanding all while standing firm on sound Doctrine.

I liked the narrator very much. I had no trouble following him and he seemed to understand the material and gave an appropriate delivery.

I highly recommend this book for anyone looking for a sound introduction and more to most topics relating to Biblical Christianity and very good explanations of them backed up with quoted verses.
