Rafe

It started in high school. We grew apart. Bit by bit, then all at once. The friend who was my ride or die suddenly wanted nothing to do with me.

Now Cam's back from college, living in the house next door, and pulling stupid pranks just to annoy me. Between my intense family and my failing relationship, I'm struggling enough without his antics. But Cam won't go away. And I'm not so sure I want him to.

Cam

It started with a smile. A touch. A shared look of mischief. Rafael Ortega stole my heart before I realized it was mine to give away.

We were best friends from the time we were in diapers right up until the unthinkable happened: he started dating. I put distance between us to save myself, but now I'm back, willing to do anything for his attention again. Because the only thing worse than Rafe breaking my heart . . . is him not getting a chance to.

Contains mature themes.

Refreshing

Gay Man Review

I’ve been harsh and critical of this series for good reason. But, this book had many redeeming qualities. The first books in this series were a blatant and embarrassing appropriation of LGBT culture in order to earn some easy money from straight white women. This book dealt with a seldomly addressed topic in MM Gay romance, ACE sexuality. As a self identifying Gay ACE individual in a healthy marriage, I genuinely felt connected to the main characters in this book. The authors research was very good. The LGBT cliches and stereotypes that were predominant in the first 3 books took a backseat to an original LGBT romance. This book also educated and offered a very accurate portrayal of a character on the Ace spectrum . Too bad the first 3 books didn’t contain anything original or meaningful above and beyond stereotypical cliches.

It was good

Does it count as enemies to lovers if they where just curious best friends that missed each other. Hmm anyways it was a good read

So Many Feels

Cam and Rafe are adorable. I love the way Cam has always done silly things to let Rafe know he was always thinking of him. Rafe discovering himself and his feelings was a journey I was so glad to witness. Love this pairing so much!

Tried to be Ace but kinda flopped at the end

It's a great story and it felt wonderful for me as an Asexual person that the writer put one of us in a book, but I just couldn't connect. I feel like they did a lot of great research but the author doesn't actually get what it's like to be Asexual. I know, I know, it's a sexy romance there needs to be smut. I get it, it just could have done without the whole camping scene, imo. Still very much love the author and voice actors, will definitely listen and read again from all of them. Cheers!

Give me all the childhood friends stories!

Loved!
Rafe and Cam were childhood friends who unfortunately grew apart, but now they're back better than ever! I loved both of these characters so much and the journey they took to find their way back to each other. Ugh, my heart!

I've so loved the narration duo of Alexander Cendese and Kirt Graves, they were perfect for all these characters!

Realistic and Sweet

I like the series in general because each character had their own personality and unique strengths. While obstacles prevented them from being together at first, the story did not drag long with complex drama 🎭. I would recommend.

The unhealthy relationship

It was so cringey having to endure the unhealthy way they put off everyone knowing about him and Laura. Like come on you’re adults. I’m glad Cam had the sense to wait for people to know or it would have definitely made him look bad. But gosh I had to roll my eyes every time he was too scared and put it off like grow a pair Rafe. It almost made me think Cam deserved better than him.

Last Volume of Gay Sunberry Memoirs

This was, by far, my least favorite. I kept having to remind myself who was who because the voice actors didn’t match the characters. After listening a second time then I got into the voices. Introducing an ace character made the chemistry less exciting. However, I LIVED for the epilogue!!! The wedding. Closing the story with those two getting married made this book worth listening to.
