About this listen

Provides new and highly effective techniques for parents dealing with behavioral challenges with their children. Intended for parents, adoptive parents, foster parents, and caretakers of at-risk, ADD/ADHD/RAD,ODD, adopted children and children with behavioral and emotional challenges.

Bryan Post speaks to parents about the challenges they face when dealing with behaviors that are often present for children who have experienced trauma. He helps parents understand the impact of pre-birth and early life trauma and the impact of interruptions in the attachment process. This book addresses the underlying issues that are the root of the behavior challenges. He breaks down complex science in a way that is easily understood, and gives specific, field tested, proven effective solutions, and strategies.

In his compassion for parents and children he offers hope and solutions for the challenges families face. Once this book was thought to be specific to adoptive and foster families, but now more and more parents are finding this love-based, trauma informed approach to be helpful in creating cooperative, healthy, loving relationships with their children. In today's society children experience trauma at a never-before seen level. Abuse, neglect, divorce, domestic violence, frequent moves, poverty, homelessness, social tragedies, all have an effect on children.

The more recent ACE's (adverse childhood experience) tool gives us insight into the reality that our children are struggling with traumatic experiences at an epidemic level. We, as adults, are being called to create healing for these wounds. This book has been touted by parents and professionals as their "must listen, go to" for understanding their traumatized child, and effectively helping them heal. Over 20,000 copies sold.

Bryan's straightforward, clear-cut approach has created peace and healing for hundreds of families; families who once operated in fear, are now experiencing love.

Finally!!! Clear and more than reasonable help!

Two adopted precious children...this book describes many of their behaviors, our "at a loss for what to do" reactions...and has given us a roadmap to help our children...our family unit...to heal!

Must read for parents

I couldn't put it down. Very helpful! Being an adoptive parent has been the hardest journey ever, this book has been my favorite read as I struggle to parent a child whose behavior is difficult and confusing!

Best book for parents who adopt

Short and powerful. Not sure why this is the book that I could listen to daily… but after all of the “studying” and classes I have taken this book is what brings it all together. So grateful that another adoptive parent recommended this! I am going to give it to my niece who is going to get her masters in social work.
