Enjoyable

The story was good and the reading was very well done. I love the history that is weaved in with the fiction. I had a hard time stopping listening.

Loved it all

One of Tamera Alexander’s best! Loved it. Love the Timber Ridge Chronicles. Maybe my favorite series of hers.

Wonderful character development, description of places creating a picture to see in you mind along as well as being wholesome!

I Loved it! So worth the time getting to know these characters, history and places. I can hardly wait to read the next book in the series. The reader did an excellent job as well. ❤️😊

The title is such a great metaphor for this book!

Susan May Warren teaches about the "Why nots" for a hero and heroine getting together and the two in this story have some of the most why nots I've seen in a book in some time! Yet Tamera Alexander expertly helps us see how this unlikely couple might indeed end up together in the end. I saw there were 200+ reviews of the book on Amazon and there is a reason for that! Great narration, too, by Robin Miles. I was so very glad I had this book to listen to while I was recently ill--I'd thought I'd listen to all of Tamera's books after I started listening to them about a year ago. Was I ever glad to discover that this gem hadn't yet been "read" by me.

This is the one that made me fall in love

Many years ago I visited my local library and judged a book by its cover. I knew it was from a publishing house that I liked and was the right genre. I fell in love with this author's writing and have devoured every book of hers since. I decided to get the audiobook and recapture the magic of this series. The audiobook did not disappoint. Now on to the next audiobook in the series. Yay!!

Amazing

Just when I thought I heard the best story by Tamara Alexander, another comes along. From a Distance held all the elements of one of the finest works of fiction I have read/heard this year.

A journey of finding what is really important in life with God’s grace and love. So many truths are spotlighted of human nature and how many are skewed due to perspective

The narrator truly captured this tale perfectly. With her voice and the words of the author, I laughed, I cried and my heart was filled.

Great Christian romance without being preachy!

I absolutely loved this book. It started out slow but is worth sticking with until the end (tears). I loved the growth of the characters, from the female main character, the former rebel sniper and the former slave. It shows how your past does not have to equal your future. You just might find love and family in the people you least expect. Most white romance authors portray slaves and former slaves during this time in a dishonorable light. And as an African American female I love the grace and dignity she gave to the former slaves in this book. Also, I love the way the author addresses the feeling of desire between the main male and female characters. It's a Christian romance book, but it's very realistic in the fact that Christians desire love and intimacy as well. If not, how would little Christians get here? Now let’s talk about the narrator. Robin Miles is a 5-star narrator. I like to listen to books with multiple narrators, but because Robin is so great with voicing each individual character, she is the only narrator you need.
