About this listen

New York Times Bestselling author Penelope Ward's debut novel. A sexy standalone with a shocking twist you won't see coming...

Diner waitress Allison Abraham had no idea her mundane life was about to dramatically change the day she serves a devastatingly handsome customer.

Allison is immediately captivated by the mysterious man who stared through her soul with his electric blue eyes. After he abruptly leaves the restaurant, she can’t get him out of her head.

She has no idea that he had actually come on a mission to find her.

Cedric Callahan wasn’t expecting to fall in love at first sight with the pretty waitress he’d set out to find.

In fact, she was the last woman on Earth he should be having feelings for.

But his selfish heart had other plans. Feeling compelled to know her before revealing himself, he makes her believe their meetings are coincidental. After a passionate romance ignites, Cedric’s lies and secrets are finally revealed, changing both of their lives forever.

The MC was a slow learner and seemed to end up in the same situation with different women. Overall I loved the story and both narrators were excellent

I loved everything. Not to give anything away I’ll just say I have over 300 audibles in my library and this is at the top of my favorites. I truly loved the characters and hated for this story to end. The narration was a 🍒 on top. Although that is no surprise. Thank you so much for this story‼️♥️♥️♥️💐

No one thing. This was a beautiful story

What a story! It was great.

Slow moving and lacking of any secondary story line to add interest. Listing to all of this was painful. The author writes one of her characters thinking about everything going on as "A bad Lifetime Movie" and then continues writing a book that is a bad Lifetime movie.

Author calls the story a bad Lifetime movie

So I would not necessarily classify this as a romance. This could be more of a general fiction with romance in it. There’s just so little time spent on the romance itself I really felt short changed in that area. There’s so much ANGST in this book, creating an utter lack of time spent together in general with the two characters, but also not even thinking about each other. It’s ridiculous really. The story about why the MMC has come to find the FMC, which is intriguing, takes up most of the story and obviously creates all the issues. Very original idea. I do like how it played out, but by that time I was bored by the lack of romance, which is why I wanted this book in the first place. So I was fast forwarding. There is some lukewarm romance at the end of the book with the wrap up, but not enough for me to recommend the book to others. It was enough to keep me interested so I could finish, however. Actually, Sebastian York (male narrator) is the main reason I finished the book. He and the female narrator did an excellent job and deserve a shoutout for their work on this one. I will say that the writing and dialog are excellent, it’s just the storyline I didn’t care for all that much.

Wow, ok. A lot to unpack here…
