About this listen

From New York Times bestselling author Penelope Ward comes a new, STANDALONE novel…

Don’t say her name. That was the one rule my bandmates followed, because they knew how much it messed me up to think about her, especially on tour.

My ex, Nicole. The one who got away and the woman who still owned every piece of my heart. After our divorce, I threw myself into the rock scene, trying to forget my heartbreak.

Three years after we split, a phone call from Nicole changed everything. She told me her grandmother wasn’t doing well. Mimi was still family to me, and she apparently had one wish before dying: to spend time with us—Nicole and me. With Mimi’s caretaker away on vacation, it would be the ideal time for us to move in with her for a couple of weeks. Of course, I couldn’t refuse.

But there was a catch. Nicole apparently never told her that we’d gotten a divorce. She hadn’t believed Mimi could handle it, because her grandmother loved me so much. So, not only would I have to see Nicole again, but I’d be pretending to still be her husband.

Two weeks in a tiny house in a small town with the woman who broke my heart. Or was it me who broke hers? It was complicated. And it was about to be a heck of a lot more complicated sharing one bed in the guest room with a woman who wasn’t mine anymore.

I didn’t enjoy the female voice. The different female character voices were forced and not very well done.

Loved the story line.

Great 2nd book to the Rocker’s Muse. Loved the storyline and the love that the two main characters have for each other. Penelope Ward does not disappoint!!! Can’t wait for the next book/next story!

Love wasn’t the problem with Atticus and Nicole but during this sweet, sad, tender, romantic journey back to each other we hear about the emotional mountains they have to climb and the devastating hurdles in the past that need to be aired before they can move forward. Character growth will have to play a big part in their journey too because sadly love won’t be enough to save these two soulmates. And I couldn’t stop listening as Atticus bears his soul, professes his undying love and does everything possible for a second chance with Nicole.

Worth a credit? Yes, I really enjoyed this second chance Rockstar romance and Sebastian and Angelina were good with the narration.. however, I wish it’d been duet-style. Other M and F drama but no cheating btw.

💖 I REALLY ENJOYED THIS SECOND CHANCE 💖

So first let me say that I really enjoy Penelope Ward's books. I am a romance fan and often read romance novels. I love Sebastian York's voice and enjoy his narrations. But the female voice in this particular story just did not do it for me. In addition to the fact that the female character was unlikable. I had a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that she divorced her husband because she couldn't handle his fame even though she had grown up with him and met him when he was nineteen. There was no indication that he cheated on her or anything. She just couldn't handle it. I found that to be strange. Throughout the whole story he Was devoted to her and She Loved him too.

interesting

I’ve enjoyed this book and I’m a big Penelope Ward fan. Glad we got to hear the back story of Nicole and Atticus. I always like listening to Sebastian, but I cannot get behind the female narrator. She’s hard to listen to.

Loved!

Atticus and Nicole’s story is angsty! Mimi, Nicole’s grandmother, needed help and she didn’t know that Atticus and Nicole have been divorced for 3 years. Neither have stopped loving each other, but they needed time, therapy, and learn to forgive each other from past mistakes. Their road to reconciliation was slow and painful, forcing the reader to feel the anguish, the anger, the longing, the jealousy, and the warmth of love. From not speaking to each other, to helping Mimi for 2 weeks where they reconnected enough to try again, the emotional journey had a satisfying payoff. The characters were all flawed, but relatable. The second chance romance was slow but did the pining burn! Atticus still referred to Nicole as “my wife” even though they’ve been divorced for 3 years. Nicole had to grow to accept certain things and own her part in their initial breakup, but she couldn’t move on from him. There was no for Atticus but Nicole, and vice versa. The audiobook was gorgeously performed. Angelina Rocca and Sebastian York brought a vulnerability and emotion that highlighted Penelope Ward’s emotional story.

Angsty but Worth It!
