About this listen

From USA Today best-selling author Rina Kent comes a new stand-alone grumpy-sunshine college romance.

I made a terrible mistake.

Being a mafia princess, I knew my fate was already decided.

But I went ahead and longed for the wrong one.

Creighton King is bad news with a gorgeous exterior.

He’s silent, brooding, and obviously emotionally unavailable.

So I thought it was over.

Until he awakens a beast inside me.

My name is Annika Volkov, and I’m Creighton's worst enemy.

He won’t stop until he breaks me.

Or I break him.

This book can be listened to on its own.

This narrative story is brilliant. What a cast!

The narration is incredible!!! James Joseph and Mackenzie Cartwright are my new favorite narrators. They told the story with so much emotion and passion. I loved Shane East returning as Aiden, along with Jadon Clarke and Desiree Ketchum. This narrative story is brilliant. What a cast!

Wow, Rina Kent has blown my mind with this story. I loved Creigh from book one, God of Malice, so I was excited to read this book. Heck zi needed this story do badly. To pair him with Anni was great, they are complete opposites. He is so dark snd she is extremely light. They really were made for one another, yet the pull to not be togywas strong.

I loved this book. It was different than her others and yet the same. Lots of cool twists and turns. The suspense killed me. I was shocked. And the steaminess between Creigh and Anni made me want to take a cold shower! So hot! An absolute must devour!!!

I immediately bought the Audiobook, I honestly just can’t get enough of this universe it’s such a comfort to me, I really want to reread the First book in this Series and then the Parents again, that’s how much I really enjoy it.
The book to me flowed so well, the writing again feels so refreshing, and tropes within this book are so current and i devoured this book. The narrators all did so incredibly well, and it’s so relaxing to listen to them and zone right into this book. You knew instinctively that the voices were going to be just right and they were.

I can’t wait to read & listen to the next book, I don’t know who’s it is but I’m eagerly awaiting 🥰

What a story!

4.5 amazing stars

This is not my usual type of read, but I highly enjoyed it. This dark-ish mafia romance had plenty of steam, drama and action. Tons of intense chemistry between Annika and Creighton. I really enjoyed their grumpy/sunshine love story.

Another great job on all the narrators. They did an amazing job portraying each character.

Another fabulous grumpy/sunshine read from Rina!

Omg. This book! THIS SERIES! I’m in love with all things @author_rina at this point. She’s a freaking goddess when it comes to grumpy/emotionally unavailable heroes who have wee soft spots for their significant others.

What I loved about God of Pain:
1. I loved being able to see more of all of the characters. This is the second book in a series of standalones and it was great getting to learn more about the personalities of the other side characters—I’m SUPER interested in Nico and Bran’s chemistry!
2. Seeing the relationship between Creighton and his brother Eli! I want more!
3. The lowkey BDSM vibes of the steamy scenes—it added a nice touch of spice!
4. How close Annika and Jeremy are—when she saved him?? Gah! 🥺🥺🥺
5. A hot muscley dude adopting a kitten. NEED I SAY MORE?!

I honestly can’t wait to see where the next book in the series takes us! I did miss seeing Glyn and Killian (they weren’t mentioned much in this book) from God of Malice—here’s hoping we see them again!

If you love a new adult dark romance with academy and secret society vibes, this is a no-brained: go for the DL!

Side note: I listened to this on audio and holy hell is the man who voices Creighton amaaazing. Freaking British accent had me goingggg. Highly recommend the listening experience! 🥵👌🏻🔥

God of Pain

Oh Annika and Creightons book was so damn good. I am addicted to this series. All the guys are morally grey and obsessive and I am hear for it. I haven’t decided my favorite yet. But the spice in this one was so good. He’s no Killian but Crieghton holds a special place in my heart.

I listened to the audiobook for this and the narrators did a really good job and they really brought the story to life.

I love that we get to continue this family story

This family has me hooked. Each book allows me to get more answers to questions I had since the first time I read about Adrien and Lia. Love love love

The storyline!

Spoiler free! At first I was a little bored with the storyline… BUT it makes up for it and it all makes sense. Worth it. A definite read if you like dark / college romance!

Better than the first

“I lost to you a long time ago. I love you, Annika. I love you to the point I see darkness without you and light only when I’m with you. You’re my sanctuary and the one person who makes me whole.”

My heart went out for Creighton, him and Annika couldn't have been more opposite but I think that is the point with this series and the others that have sort of tie into this. You have the dark broody, morally grey men and the women that basically bring them to their knees.
Creighton although adopted by a family that he loves more than life he still had lots of pinned up emotions and thoughts of revenge towards those he felt caused him pain as a child. Because he had no outlet he just wanted to unleash pain on people. In comes Annika to make him see that there is more to life, as he slowly let her in the pain he wanted to inflict on her was followed with pleasure. There is so much to their story that neither of them know and when they do learn it, it could and almost does destroy their relationship. There are some pretty decent spice between the two of them and some funny moments laced with sarcasm.
I did enjoy this one much better than the first book in this series so I am hoping it continues to get better. Who is the next dark, morally grey man to be brought to his knees by a woman.
