About this listen

Johnstone Country. Family First.

For generations, the Jensens have struggled to build their home, their land, and their dreams. But now the family is forced to fight fire with fire, bullet by bullet, blood for blood....

For Smoke and his daughter, Denny, life on the Sugarloaf Ranch is more valuable than all the gold in the world. Which works out fine, since all the gold mines in Big Rock were squeezed dry years ago. Even so, that won't stop a pair of smooth-talking businessmen from trying to squeeze out a little more. One of them has developed a newfangled method for extracting gold-something called "hydraulics" - and he's bought up all the old mines to do it. His partner is the son of legendary gunfighter Frank Morgan, and Denny thinks he's awful handsome. Smoke isn't sure what to think of these would-be gold-diggers. Especially when the handsome one triggers a rivalry with Denny's off-and-on beau, a US deputy. And then the smart one hires a small army of gunfighter to protect his mines from sabotage....

The Jensons can smell trouble brewing from a mile away. And when it involves gold, guns, and good love gone bad, it's more than just trouble. It's a massacre waiting to happen....

Greed and Gold

I liked this book. It went in a different direction then the previous books. I'm still confused by Denny's attitude toward her man friends. It was nice to see Smoke Jenson get some gun play.

Great story

This started out slow and I was tempted to pass on it. However, I stuck with it and it evolved into a very entertaining story.

Plenty of action and adventure await the reader!

Smoke Jensen and his family enjoy a relatively peaceful life on their ranch until two men begin buying old gold mines in the area and working them with hydraulic mining. Since one of the men is only interested in getting rich, he operates in a way that damages the surrounding property. Angry ranchers and their cowboys won't allow the destruction of their range, and a war between the miners and the cowboys erupts. The situation becomes more complicated when Smoke's daughter finds both a deputy US marshal and one of the mine owners vying for her attention. This story is a great listen for Western fans.

not all that glitters is gold. but the pursuit of gold can be expensive and destructive.

smokes daughter and the flies she attracts are the cornerstone of this drama whose outcome would have longlasting consequences. never fear.

Gold Mine Massacre

This may be the best book in this series. This book is a lot better than the last book. I was drawn into this book from the start to the very last word. Kid Morgan was in this book and that's what made it good. Also Smoke is in this book more. Denny is still the main one. I've always wanted Denny and Brice together and still do but Kid Morgan would be ok. There is a lot of action in this book and a good storyline. That is believable. This book makes me want to go back to book one and listen to them again. Also I want to learn more about Kid Morgan. He is Frank Morgan's Son. There is a series about him. ( The Loner). Danny Campbell does a good job narrating this book. He narrates the whole series. If my review is any help will you please click on the helpful link below

Decent story, bad narration

Did not appreciate narrator. Should have been one with qualities like Jack Garrett, or Rodney…
