Darko Dawson has just been promoted to chief inspector in the Ghana Police Service - the promotion even comes with a (rather modest) salary bump. This is a nice book and a solid four stars, but is a bit leisurely in the telling for my tastes: a lot of explanation of mundane activities leading to too-long-delayed insights, without the good excuse of fascinating local color, just a lot of slow-walking the news . . . . But I knew nothing about gold mining in Ghana by Chinese before, and now I feel that I do, so that's a good thing.
