Publisher's summary

With the exception of a double homicide twenty-three years ago, nothing big happened in tiny Franklin, Florida. Most of Officer Penelope Chance's cases were relatively minor incidents. In spite of her prayers, the truth was sometimes she wished a case like this would cross her desk. Something to get her blood pumping and give her brain a good workout.

So when she gets the call about an attempted murder, she can't help but get excited... But when she learns who the victim is... And who's suspected of the crime... her blood runs cold. What starts out as an attempted murder quickly turns into a murder mystery that's going to leave Penelope questioning her faith in the people around her and in herself.

Will Penelope find the culprit and the truth behind everything that's happening in her peaceful little town, or will the case go cold and land in the unsolved mysteries file? Is this a test from God for Penelope and everyone else involved or just one of many bumps in the road to come?

Find out in One Chance, the best-selling debut mystery novel from Christian fiction author Daniel Patterson.

Good book poor narrator

The book turned out way better than I thought once I got past the narrator. At times it was hard. Sounded like it was literally being read by a computer except sometimes when doing voices for the characters. I did finally get past that and wanted to know how the story ended so listened all the way through.

Its in His Hands

What made the experience of listening to One Chance the most enjoyable?

I could feel the characters in he way Mim Drew told the story, the audio made it more real. As I listened I kept wondering as a police office how did Penny keep her faith?
I'm sure at times it was challenged, but it certainly didn't take anything from the storyline.

What did you like best about this story?

I love Inspiration/Christian Fiction with some mystery thrown in.

What about Mim Drew’s performance did you like?

I did like it, she has a voice that pulls you in.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

This was a great book. The story had never completely on edge. I love the main character Penelope personality and live for The LORD.

The story was a little corny at times, but kept me interested. Narrator was pleasant to listen to.

Good Story line with Christian main character

Good mystery with praying police officer.
Narrator fine except for the odd way her voice ended a lot of words.

narration monotone

ok story although the Christian aspect was sappy and unlikely- it seemed forced into each scene. Narration was poor- even emotional or exciting scenes were read in a dull, monotonous tone.

Great story! Painful narration.

The story was great. Interesting and sweet. Ans that's a very good thing because the performance was so painful to listen to. At first I thought it was a computer generated voice. Uber pronunciation and dead pan delivery.
