Seeing the beast in the woods was just the beginning of their nightmare....
For Hank and Amy it was supposed to be a new beginning. Rest and relaxation in the country was their intention when they moved to Gravel Switch, one of the smallest towns in central Kentucky.
But when the house they rent reveals itself to be more than they bargained for the couple face a nightmare reality far beyond the limits of their imaginations.
The couple find themselves at odds with some of the locals as Hank's health falls into deterioration. With his body falling apart Hank questions his sanity as events spiral out of his control and the house seems to exert its own agenda on the couple.
Hank and Amy must confront an ancient, unfathomable evil if they hope to survive the horror that is Gravel Switch....
In the vein of The Evil Dead and Hellraiser, Gravel Switch will leave you shattered and drained. A cosmic, weird horror wrapped in extreme violence featuring a true story combined with supernatural elements.
WARNING: This is an extreme horror. Some scenes may offend. It is actually the point! If you are put off by graphic scenes of extreme violence, drug use, or sex then this isn't the book for you.

I definitely recommend this book. If you want a fun story full of gore, sex, drugs, the occult, and all sorts of hedonism then this story is for you. If not, then you probably won't like it.
The page on amazon says that it is based on a true story, but has been mixed with Lovecraftian elements, which are definitely there. The town Gravel Switch is a real place, so this story really illustrates just how messed up people can be in small towns. And also why you shouldn't join a cult.
Some of the scenes were extremely brutal, which I loved. But be warned, there are some scenes where someone does something cruel to an animal and it can be stomach churning...but with this story it is all part of the fun.
The bad guys in Gravel Switch are pretty nefarious, as is the main big bad, which is extremely weird. And this is where the Lovecraftian elements come in. Basically the house is a portal to hell and there are demons, but they are more ancient and cosmic than your run-of-the-mill satanic demons. But I will say the style isn't anything like Lovecraft. This is much less subtle, and more brutal. A lot more like a Matt Shaw book in some places.
I usually listen to Sci-Fi, but occasionally listen to a horror book. I'm glad I listened to this one, it was a lot of fun.
It is like the Evil Dead but way more drug use
