Publisher's summary

Nat Cassidy’s highly commercial debut horror novel, Mary, blends Midsommar with elements of American Psycho and a pinch of I'll Be Gone in the Dark.

Mary is a quiet middle-aged woman doing her best to blend into the background. Unremarkable. Invisible. Unknown even to herself.

But lately, things have been changing inside Mary. Along with the hot flashes and body aches, she can’t look in a mirror without passing out, and the voices in her head have been urging her to do unspeakable things.

Fired from her job in New York, she moves back to her hometown hoping to reconnect with her past and inner self. What she finds instead are visions of terrifying mutilated specters that come with increasing regularity; she begins auto-writing strange thoughts and phrases, and her investigations reveal that these experiences are echoes of an infamous serial killer.

Then the killings begin again.

Mary’s definitely going to find herself.

Great Storytelling

A great read/listen...a one of a kind story with a unique storyline and a main character you can't decide to love or hate. The narrarator killed it, all puns intended.

Beware the middle aged woman

I really enjoyed this book. It had all the elements I love in a book. Dark humor, the supernatural, serial killers, amazing female leads, cults…. He list goes on. I thought the voice actor was great too. Particularly loved the Nadine voice. 10/10 would recommend

Voice Actress Made This 5 Stars

The woman that voiced this book was incredible. Probably the best audiobook I've ever listened to.

My favorite book

This book is an astounding tribute to any woman who has ever felt overlooked, unimportant and insignificant. Phenomenal work as an audiobook. A must read

Mary

Wow, what an excellent story. Also fantastically vocalized. It was creepy, it was amusing, and it really made you think about a woman’s experience in this world.

A Must Listen

Profound and provocative. Inspired by King's Carrie it is just a genius and just as important. The narration is first class and gives an inspired novel about change and self a worthy voice. We will be hearing about this novel for years to come. Truly a delight.

Loved it

A twisted tale masterfully narrated, speckled with dark humor and WTF moments. I loved the author's notes at the beginning. Oddly accurate peri menopausal moments from a guy. Kudos to you, Sir!

Great writing Nat Cassidy!

Finding a good story in this genre is difficult, but MARY was very listenable. Not over the top, too gross, too silly, but good. And of course, the narrator, Susan Bennett, did a great job with all the characters.

I am disappointed Audible only has only one Nat Cassidy book. MORE PLEASE!

Great book with an even better performance

Loved the characters and the narrator! It was hard to get through the beginning of the book simply because the story was so bleak and cruel, but I stuck with it and was rewarded with an incredibly engaging story and fleshed out, memorable characters. Susan Bennett's narration is, in my opinion, some of the best I've heard on Audible. She gave life to all of the characters and slipped in and out of each of them seamlessly.
