Publisher's summary

It was supposed to be a break from war zones....

Until all hell broke loose....

Can they survive long enough to fight this new war?

Chris Grant had taken the close protection gig for a finance guy as a break from the last two decades spent in war zones around the world. When a coordinated attempt is made on the client’s life, however, he finds that this job isn’t as simple as it seemed.

Things only get more complicated from there.

The Pallas Group Solutions contractors haven’t been selected because they’ll sit on their hands. As they begin to gather more intelligence, and as the bodies stack up, they discover that there’s more to both the client and their own company than meets the eye.

They’ve plunged into a world of drugs, corruption, foreign influence, and terrorism.

And a secret war that they have no choice but to fight.

You’ll love this action thriller because once it takes off, there’s no going back!

Excellent action thriller

Exactly what I expected from Pete Nealen. Lots of guns, intrigue, and rough but ready good guys. A great start to a new series.

Action packed from start to finish

Another exiting series from Nealan. Doesn’t waste any time getting to the action and does a good job making you feel the story race along. Also does an amazing job of making you picture and feel the team. Good technical detail that is only possible when the writer has the experience. Looking forward to the next part of the series!

Steve Marvel is incredible

Peter Nealen is a prophet. All of his military books seem to be proving true. Steve Marvel is my favorite narrator

Fantastic

This is my first time reading Peter Nealen. If the rest of his books are as good as this one I’ll be a life long fan.

Master of a certain style

I love the pace and subject matter of Nealen’s work. These novels are story centered and don’t waste a great deal of time on superfluous character development. I will definitely binge the whole series.

Big meh. Nothing special.

The story reminds me of Tom Clancy from the 90s, except without interesting plot points, or multiple experts, or modern cutting edge technology. The main character is a Mary Sue. They know everything, correct everyone basically all the time - and when they're wrong they know they're wrong.

The plot feels like Big Lots "Sicaro".

Also not a huge fan of the performance.
