About this listen

For Michael Rivers, life is perfect. He is tall, handsome and worshipped by billions of fans around the globe. He is wealthy beyond measure, the heir apparent to one of the high-tech corporations that controls the world. He is fashionable, setting trends with his wardrobe of immaculate designer suits. And Michael is in love with Nora, his beautiful, witty and equally perfect fiancée. When an assassin's bullets pierce Michael's body before the cameras at a press junket, everything changes.

Forcibly separated from Nora, his illusions shattered, Michael seeks to uncover the reasons behind the attempted assassination. Michael delves deep into his past, finding that all paths lead to a time when he was the golden boy, dancing furiously to the beat of notorious all-night Rage parties thrown by his father.

Critic reviews

"[This] playful take on fashionistas of the future is diverting." (Publishers Weekly)
"Grey is a legendary book waiting to happen. It's a mad, stylish, trippy, endlessly inventive romp through the biohazardous wastes of post-genre literature. Jon Armstrong is a genius, with an umlaut, to the fifth power." (Michael Chabon)

Unique and imaginative

This is a very unique book and one of my all time favourites. Evocative, even anticipatory.

Listeners "Be Ware"

This listen was the most disgusting piece of "I don't know what" that I have ever listened to. Filthy depictions of characters eating, wearing, and playing with explicite, human, body parts.... gross. I am so disappointed that "Audible" would even allow this in their reporatoire that it temps me to disconnect my subscription with Audible. The introduction of this book in no way warns the listener of the filth they are about to invade their mind with. If Mr, Armstrong used his. grotesque, twisted mind and exuburance for imagination and put it towards the positive, he would be brilliant. The narrator is the only one getting a star from me.
