About this listen

Gabe D'Angelo has it all. Designer clothes, luxury cars, a cool confidence most would envy, and a never-ending supply of money - and men. When he arrived in Haven's Cove to be there for his best friend, he never imagined he'd end up extending his stay indefinitely. Small town living isn't so bad after all, and the views are magnificent - especially the view of a sexy, rugged blond. But when that mysterious, brooding man refuses all Gabe's advances, he is forced to take a step back and truly look at the person he's become.

Nate Black moved from Boston to Haven's Cove for his family. He's missed small town living and the simple, tranquil life that comes with it. What he doesn't bargain for is the pushy, spoiled playboy who's set his eyes on Nate as his next conquest. Knowing this man has the potential to crack the foundation of his quiet life, Nate will do everything he can to protect his safe, closed-off world.

Is one man worth loving? Is the other worth the sacrifice? Or is the love they're searching for not just hard to get but completely out of reach?

Contains mature themes.

Almost as good as the first

Outstanding narration!!! Great story. Feel as though a little more should be in each scene, but that’s me. Another reviewer would commend how the story line moves forward quickly. Looking forward to the next in the series.

Sweet and Spicy

3.5 to 4 Blue Roses
3.5 to 4 Blue Flames

Narrator Sean Crisden delivered a sweet love conquers all romance. His performances are always impeccably good. The cadence and deep rumble his spicy voice is as tangy as honey. Gabe D'Angelo, aka stalker in my mind, is nothing else but persistent. He injects himself into Nat's life very strategically, and then removed himself from direct attack by stalking his family members. He then enters by the back door and Nate just couldn't resist him when he saw his little girl reacts to him.

It's a good book for a rainy day, a little predictable, but still very enjoyable.

I recommend this audiobook as part of the series.

Happy Listening

Gabe!!!!

I love this story. Gabe was my guy. I enjoyed him tremendously. The Narrator really brought this character to life for me. perfect dialect for his snarky demeanor. what a delightful, heartwarming series. Almost forgot, steamy as hell too!!!

Lightning doesn't strike twice, but close.

There's an old vaudeville saying, never follow children or animals. Gabe is in the unenviable position of having to matter to a man with a child. Gabe as a character is a lot, very other the top. It takes more time to get behind him in the relationship with Nate. When we met Nate in the first book, Brody was concerned he was a homophobe, but it turns out he was just judgmental. This is a harder sell romance, especially as there is a child in it. I like stories with children, Kaje Harper's Life Lessons series is all about children and blended families. But in this case, we come close to lily as a prop.

Crisden is still really solid here, but Gabe and also lily can be a bit much. That could be direction or could be personal choice. Regardless, the performance was just a bit below the first book.

This story is again about proving one's self in a a sort of enemies to lovers story. In some ways Nate is his own enemy, in that he is so set in his ways that he continues to be a jerk to Gabe much longer than necessary for the story. Still worthwhile within the series, recommended.

Very good story, tho both story & narration leave something to be desired

First of all, the narration bothered me in both this audiobook and the one before it. It takes place in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, tho the narrator doesn’t portray accents appropriate to the locations. Why is it that most British narrators are so good at regional accents and most American narrators seem unable or unwilling to do the same? I also just never really liked the voice the narrator chose for Gabe. It reminded me a bit of Paul Lynde, who was a Midwesterner, and not as sexy or likable as I think he deserved. And the voice he used for Nate sounded like a western cowboy’s. I liked the voice he used for Jonah, which was totally different from anyone else’s voice. On the other hand, some of the other characters were hard to recognize by voice, as they sounded almost the same – especially those of Owen and Brody (which made it hard for me to tell them apart in the book before this). Most of the other characters sounded pretty much the same, and none of them had New England accents.

Complex

I really enjoyed this book much more than the first one. The family dinamic and challenges were much more complex and I feel that the way it is written feels longer, though it is not, we get to know these characters better than the first. The intimate scenes were more intimate as well.

What I enjoy in the series as a whole is that though this story is about two different characters, a lot of time is spend with the couple from the first book as well, so you don't really feel the nostalgia so much as you do with some other series' like these.
