About this listen

Eve Levine - half-demon, black witch, and devoted mother - has been dead for three years. She has a great house, an interesting love life, and can't be killed again - which comes in handy when you've made as many enemies as Eve has. Yes, the afterlife isn't too bad. All she needs to do is find a way to communicate with her daughter, Savannah, and she'll be happy.

But fate - or more exactly, the Fates - have other plans. Eve owes them a favor, and they've just called it in. An evil spirit called the Nix has escaped from Hell. She feeds on chaos and death, and is very good at persuading people to kill for her.

The Fates want Eve to hunt her down before she does any more damage, but the Nix is a dangerous enemy - previous hunters have been driven insane in the process. As if that's not problem enough, the only way to stop her is with an angel's sword. And Eve is no angel.

"Those who appreciate heroines with a good measure of spunk, sass, and strong-arm savvy will find this a fun if fitful read." ( Publishers Weekly)
"Armstrong has created a persuasive, finely detailed otherworldly cosmology - featuring sorcery, astral projection, spells, telepathy and teleportation." ( Toronto Star)

Tired of listening to stories about humans? Consider the werewolf! Taking various forms over the course of centuries and mythologies, often as flesh-devourers, werewolves now commonly appear in fantasy and romance novels as shape-shifters. The shape-shifting element in werewolves' stories has almost humanized them, depicting the internal struggles we all face within ourselves, on some level or another.

Confusing until late in the book

Once the story got going it was don't put it down. However it took a while to get there. Loved the character of Eve. Can't await to start the new book which follows in this series of the 'Otherworld'

I love this series but I'll be honest this is my least favorite book. I was excited to get a book with Eve and Chris but I think I would have rather it was from the past. This one just didn't grab me like the others have. I was glad we get a little Paige, Lucas, Savannah and Jamie in this book.

The narration is good, she fit much better for Eve I think than she does for Paige.

Not bad--Haunted

This book was good but I missed more story one Savanna and Paige. I know this book was more about Eve but it was just ok for me. We got a Nix and some angels and ghosts in this book but I like reading more about Paige and Savanna. I like to see that Savanna is growing up in these books as well.

Great listen

Good easy listen. Not as good as the last book, but worthwhile. Miss Clay and Elena but still good book in the series.

Finally a quality production of the series

I found the character???s interpretation of the afterlife interesting. I???ve been enjoying this series, but I had to learn to tolerate poor production choices like narrators that don???t match the characters and bad editing. The producers finally got their act together for this book. On the other hand, the author could have made the main character as cunning she has been lead up to be.

Excellent story

Well defined and told story. I like how this links the other books on the series together.

Witches, Ghosts and Angels -- Oh My!

Vampires being all the rage, I like this series because it has a mixture of werewolves, ghosts, witches and other beasties -- a sprinkling of vampires. Don't be fooled by the title of the series, there are plenty of men woven into the story. This story in particular is about Eve, the mother of Savannah from a previous novel. In this novel, she is sent out after a Nix as a sort of supernatural bounty hunter and you follow her jaunts as she tracks this nasty creature down. Eve is a mixture of good and evil herself and so the theme is" if you want to catch a criminal, send a criminal" -- but can Eve be reformed from bad witch to -- what?

In order to appreciate this novel, you really should read at least book 2 and book 4; you could skip book 1 and 3 as they are other storylines. I do think reading the whole series is very worthwhile. Also, don't expect sex to be the focal point of these works, they are slight romance and mostly fantasy. If you enjoy the fantasy genre, you'll like this series.

Laural Merlington does a great job in narration. Overall, I continue to find these works light and engaging without be macabre. I recommend you give it a read -- great airplane trip time killer.
