Good post apocalyptic story, wraps up the series

This series is a great entry in the post apocalyptic genre.

the final book wraps up many of the storylines. my only complaint is that it seems to do it too quickly, but that is probably because I enjoyed the characters and the settings. I thought their could be more story lines developed.

Chris Monteiro did a great job performing the books.

I received a free copy of this audiobook, in exchange for an unbiased review.

Ending

This is not your typical EMP book by Jack Hunt has more military component. The US as well as other countries are bombed and EMP occurs thru the Midwest and Chinese troops are taking over the small towns. People are tortured, starved and killed and people are fighting back. Enjoyed characters of Miles, Gunner, and August. The ending was a surprise. I was given this free review copy audiobook and have voluntarily left this review. THANK YOU

The Hunter strikes again!

Volume three of the series finds the weary but determined militia making small inroads against the Chinese incursion. Gunnar has been captured and is being held in Chicago where the Chinese have set up their headquarters. It is up to Miles to develop a dangerous and daring plan to rescue Gunnar. The Chinese have plans in motion to fortify and hold Chicago, utilizing it as a forward operating base. The militia, along with remnants of the U.S. Army have their plans to prevent this move. Together with bursts of action, relationship issues between several characters are expanded upon; some are resolved, others not so much. Payback issues are dealt with, friendships are challenged, and new relationships are begun. The final volume is tense and well developed with a satisfying conclusion. Will the Militia Save the Midwest?

As the enemy gear up for the final assault on the Midwest, it’s up to the militia to prevent WMDs from arriving in Chicago. Will Miles, Gunnar and the rest pull out a victory one last time or has their luck run out?

This book, as with the previous two, has enough action to keep readers on the edges of their seats throughout the story. Hunt throws in a couple of late-developing twists to keep things interesting.

I love a good action novel, but this book became all about the characterizations for me. Miles and Gunnar have been through so much, will they have the strength and will to continue the fight? How will Miles deal with the startling secrets he learns? Will the Chinese leaders and the mercenary Santiago get their comeuppance? And, which side will the fence-sitting collaborators finally choose? Can they find redemption after it’s all over? These questions get answered with Hunt's engaging story-telling.

While I personally would have liked a longer book to expand some of the characterizations, I enjoyed it quite a lot. The entire series is worth the read.

Narrator Chris Monteiro does a wonderful job here, and with the entire series. His performance conveys emotion. He delivers a great interpretation of the tone set by Hunt’s words.

Highly recommended.

Great story!

Love everything by Jack Hunt.
This is no exception!
Miles & Gunner are like everyday guys who live like they are superheroes. Al of the side characters were great too. Would love to to know more about Snow. I think he was the most fascinating character of all.
Chris Monreiro did an amazing job narrating this series!
