About this listen

Taylor Smith hasn’t always had it easy, but she worked hard for her college scholarship and makes do with her job—all to avoid ending up like her parents. Claire, her roommate and best friend, is the exact opposite, rich beyond Taylor’s comprehension and maybe a little high maintenance.

When a charming man named Dylan shows up at Taylor’s work and asks her out on a date, she is flustered, but flattered. Claire, on the other hand, senses something off about him, but Taylor ignores her picky taste. Soon, Taylor realizes the relationship is quickly spiraling out of control—from a shotgun wedding to angry words to multiple bruises. And then, when Claire tries to help Taylor escape her desperate situation, it’s all over the news.

Taylor’s missing.

Claire knows what happened. The public might be enchanted by the story of a husband trying to find his wife, but Claire will stop at nothing to save Taylor and prove that he did it.

Enticing!

I’m so glad I had the opportunity to listen to this book by A. G. Hawkins. I was immediately pulled into the story. I felt the narrator was perfectly cast for the book. She brought the characters to life and I was able to envision so many details. Laura Horowitz is definitely a narrator that I will listen to again. I enjoyed this book so much that I purchased another title (Gone) by this author and performed by same narrator.

Amazing!

This is the second time I have read this book, although this is the first time I have listened to it on audio. The narrator is quickly becoming one of my favorites! She gave every character their own voice and she gave so much life to this book!

This book is dark, and it made me sob buckets. Please check triggers before diving into this one. It will break you, but at the end it will put you back together! Claire is a spitfire and she fought so hard for Taylor. I will never read this book again without picturing Dylan as a toad, lol. Anyway the narrator is amazing and the author is amazing too! I highly recommend it!

An amazing story

This book had me hooked! The author did a wonderful job explaining a difficult subject. I also think the narrator did a wonderful job as well. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this book but please be aware of the triggers, it may be difficult for some to read.

eye opening

this book is amazing. Not many people will talk about such a hard topic. This author has done an amazing job talking about a topic most people overlook. the performance was top notch 👌. I really hope there will be more of these Characters in a future book because the author makes you fall in love with them.

Fantastic, but please check the triggers first

I received the code for this audiobook as a gift from the author. This review is my own opinion and was not requested. The narrator for this book is the same one who narrated "Gone" by this author and she does a great job.

I knew I was going to love this book while also having complete anxiety the entire time (and I was correct).
TRIGGER WARNING:
This book has a LOT of domestic violence

Taylor and Claire met in college and had an instant friendship, despite the two young women being very different from each other. Taylor was raised by a working class single father who drank his life away, while Claire grew up wanting for nothing on her parent's estate. Taylor is a talented artist with a promising future, until Dylan comes into her job and askes her out on a date.

Dylan's red flags begin to show immediately for Claire, but Taylor is nineteen and has never had a good example of a healthy relationship. Things between Taylor and Dylan move quickly, and before Claire and Taylor know it, Taylor is pregnant and married to Dylan. As the months and years go by, Dylan isolates Taylor from Claire more and more. Then, one day, Taylor is missing.

The police have never been help to Taylor during her abusive marriage, and they aren't help now that she's missing. They tell Claire she probably ran away to get away from her husband. But Claire knows in her gut that Taylor would never leave her son behind. Claire KNOWS Dylan is the one who did it. And now she has to prove it...

This is the second book by this author that I have listened to and I enjoyed them both! This audiobook had me glued to my couch for the last hour, unable to function as I listened to the ending. Please check the triggers before starting this book, but if you can handle it I HIGHLY recommend it.
