About this listen

Set in the upscale DC private school scene, where silence can easily be bought, Aggie Blum Thompson's All the Dirty Secrets asks how far you would go to protect your status and your family, and if some secrets should ever be revealed.

One warm summer night twenty-five years ago, Liza Gold and her friends celebrated their high school graduation with a party on the beach. It should have been the best night of their lives, only one of them never came back out of the ocean.

The tragedy haunted Liza Gold for years. Now, she's a recently divorced working mom struggling to connect with her standoffish teenager daughter Zoe when history repeats itself. Another young woman has drowned at Beach Week, and this time the victim is Zoe’s secret best friend.

Liza begins to suspect that the two deaths are somehow related, which causes her to face hard truths and take an unflinching look at the people she’s called her closest friends for the past two decades. She must discover what really happened to both women before it’s too late.

I can normally tolerate a little bit, but this story just spoon feed you over and over with woke nonsense that makes you roll your eyes. I just want to enjoy a good mystery without being lectured like I'm watching the news. This story takes place in DC, which is very diverse and liberal but the way the writer portrays it, you would think it's the Deep South.

it's way too woke.

Had promise but went downhill plot wise. The plot just didn't have momentum. The story needed to be edited better. The tension fizzled and I just got bored by the end.

Disappointed.

Loved the twists and I love domestic thrillers! I can’t wait to keep reading! I will definitely continue exploring

I love the way Aggie Thompson writes!!!

Intricately plotted and timely. This novel reflects, warns, yet gives hope that goodness and right can be right around the corner.

A winner

I don't know if the teenage daughter is just an overly dramatic, self-centered brat, or if the voice of the narrator makes her come off that way. Either way, she's not likable. The story was predictable almost from the very beginning. It wasn't horrible, but it is not a listen that I would recommend.

Meh...

Disappointed in the teenage girl character. Maybe a little over the top for a young woman going through a trauma.

Great story line but…

The story was very interesting, and held my attention the whole way through! When I thought I knew what was going on BAM something happened that made me think differently!

Surprise ending!!

Takes forever to get the point across. Became bored easily. While the ending was fine, it drug on and on and on and on……………..

I base my review on if it’s worth a credit, and this one wasn’t.

Super disappointed with this book. Wanted something entertaining to get lost in. Instead there is open contempt for white people, especially men, shoved awkwardly through the whole story along with ‘America was built of the backs is slaves’ bs, positive views on reparations and thinly veiled jealous hatred of wealthy successful people. So insulting & demeaning. Seems like it was written by an indoctrinated petulant child fresh out of college with a basket weaving degree. Would have never wasted money on this book knowing the woke political garbage contaminating an otherwise mediocre story. Yuck.

Unnecessary anti-white men offensive woke virtue signaling rhetoric

First of all, the story is not that great. It is boring and drags out.
However, it is the narrator’s that make this audio book a horrible experience. The narrator for Liza being the worst. It’s like she was trying to accomplish the opposite of whatever emotions we were supposed to be hearing and her reading voice is absolute torture. The narrator for the daughter was not much better but atleast kind of tried.
I promise you will regret if you purchase.

Worst audio book experience I’ve ever had.
