LOVED CATCHING UP WITH EVERYONE & FINDING OUT WHAT WAS HAPPENING WITH TAYLOR & HER FAMILY AS WELL AS LYDIA & HER FAMILY!

I loved catching up with everyone in this book! I felt a little (OK, A LOT) disappointed with the last book’s ending. I felt it left the reader hanging with so many questions unanswered. I looked high and low on every book site I could think of and could not find a follow up book. I was SO MAD, thinking I had invested all that money into ten previous Audible books only to be left hanging like that.

I should have known better that Ms. Bratt would not do that to her readers.💕. The next book (this one) just hadn’t been published yet. The months I waited were well worth it. I believe there is one more in this series coming called, “So This Is Christmas,” but I am not positive about when it will be available. Being that it is the first week of December, 2024, I hope this means it will be out SOON!

In this book, Deputy Taylor Hart, goes undercover in prison for six long weeks to find out who and HOW one or more of the prisoners are getting drugs smuggled into the prison. A new test program is being rolled out as well; one that pretty much leaves the inmates policing themselves 24/7 WITHOUT any guards there to supervise in case of any problems (the animals are now in charge of the zoo)!

This leaves Taylor in a very precarious position — she has NO help and no one to turn to in case of any problems (and of course problems arise). Taylor is completely on her own. To make matters worse, she and her husband Sam parted with angry words and feelings between them for the first time ever. Sam was 100% against Taylor taking the assignment. Taylor took it anyway, knowing it was a huge stepping stone to a big promotion up to the rank of detective. Leaving with bad feeling between them left Taylor feeling miserable.

Lydia is still being held captive by crazy lawyer-by-day, survivalist-the-rest-of-the-time, Nolan. Lydia’s husband, Caleb, KNOWS in his gut it’s Nolan who has Lydia, but he has no actual proof of it. Nolan takes every opportunity to taunt Caleb about it. Caleb doesn’t have Taylor with him to keep him and his temper in check and to keep him from losing his sanity while searching for his wife every second he is not on duty. Everyone, including his two eldest daughters and his sisters-in-law, think he should have given up the search a long time ago and is just obsessed. A lot of very unhappy feelings and distance are developing between; but, Caleb’s heart is telling him that Lydia is still alive and he just can’t and WON’T stop searching for her until she is found — dead or alive.

Help for Lydia comes from a most unexpected source. But, as good as the help is, there is no guarantee she is going to get away from Nolan alive. He’s just too good at surviving in the wild and she has no experience at all. And, it seems that those who are truly insane seem to have all the luck.

This was an easy, enjoyable read. It COULD be read as a stand alone, but it would make so much more sense if the reader knew the background of Taylor and her family and of Lydia and how she came to be in the hands of Nolan, instead of home with her Sheriff husband Caleb and their three daughters.

I would recommend this book to anyone, but especially to those who have been following the whole Hart clan leading up to this book. All your questions will be answered.👏👏👏👏
