Publisher's summary

Readers and listeners who relish heated passion and chilling suspense love New York Times best-selling author Karen Robards's acclaimed novels featuring Dr. Charlotte "Charlie" Stone. A heroine with a keen mind for catching killers and a soft heart for bad boys, Charlie is back in this third sizzling paranormal romance thriller.

Her last whisper

Madness and murder invaded Dr. Charlotte Stone's life when she was just a girl - and made her a woman determined to save others from the horror she survived. An expert in the psychology of serial killers, she's faced down more than her share of human monsters. But Charlie can also communicate with the spirits of those who die violently, an extrasensory skill that has helped the FBI bring lethal predators to justice. Now, after narrowly escaping death a second time, Charlie's ready to step away from the edge - before her luck runs out.

Too bad Charlie is too dedicated for her own good - and too devoted to federal agent Tony Bartoli to say no when he asks her to ride shotgun on yet another risky mission. Of course, she already has her hands full with Michael Garland: the handsome, roguish ghost with whom she's hopelessly in love - a spirit who depends on Charlie to keep him from slipping forever into the dark side of the afterlife. But in the mortal world, beautiful single women are vanishing from Las Vegas hotels at night. All signs indicate that a psychopath is on the prowl in Sin City, and Bartoli's FBI colleague Lena Kaminsky has reason to fear that her missing sister may be just the killer's type.

In a town full of fast players and few rules, flushing out a smooth-talking stalker like the Cinderella Killer might be a loser's game. But for Charlie, the only way to cage her quarry is to plunge back into the homicidal hell she vowed to leave behind - and may not leave alive.

All is not as it seems. On to the next mystery

Another thriller with a great storyline and a heartwarming cliffhanger. Who is the so familiar stranger. Read the next book to find out.

Ghosts and monsters

It was a really odd story about a woman falling in love with a ghost. I liked the addition of a psychic that could work magic. I think Tony could have been a stronger in the love department.

Good story.

The story itself was good. Knocked off one star because the sex scenes were just too long. You expect a few sprinkled in a romance suspense novel but these are so long you find yourself drifting and not paying attention to the book then having to back it up when you realize the story has picked back up.

SPOILER: Grrr have to wait for the next book to come out to find out what happened to Michael. I figured out in the last book how he was accused of being a serial killer was able to stick, the end of this book cemented it. Now it's a matter of unfolding the rest of his story.

I hope Ms Robards doesn't leave Tony out in the cold, he is a good guy and needs a happy ending.

AwesomeParanormal Romantic Suspense series

What made the experience of listening to Her Last Whisper the most enjoyable?

I listened to all three of the Charlotte Stone mysteries by Karen Robards over a weeks time. While at first I wasn't a fan of the narrator, after I had been listening for a while, I thought she did a good job. I really liked all three books in this series. I liked Charlie and Michael, the 2 main characters. Michael was definitely a sigh worthy "ghost felon". The paranormal aspect was a plus for me, one of my favorite types of mysteries. The writing was descriptive which for me is a must when listening to audio books. The settings of the books and the mystery aspects of each book moved along, I never felt bored or that the narrative dragged. By the time I finished the first book, I was hooked and immediately purchased 2 and 3. I listen to a lot of audiobooks, this was not the best I've ever listened to, but it was thoroughly enjoyable, held my attention and made me smile. I rooted for this couple all the way to the twisty paranormal HEA.

What other book might you compare Her Last Whisper to and why?

Karen Rose, Linda Howard, and Nora Roberts romantic suspense style books. Not too graphic with either sex or gore, Mysteries are usually not too disturbing, and most have elements of humor here and there.

What does Ann Marie Lee bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She had a nice voice and I ALWAYS appreciate a narrator that does separate voices for characters. Monotone, with no differentiation between characters is nearly always a DNF for me.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

? classic romantic suspense with a paranormal theme.??

Any additional comments?

Recommend to lovers of Romantic suspense. Main character Michael Garland was a memorable hero.

Good story (I think), narration not so good.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

No, as a matter of fact I quit listening at the second chapter. Ms Lee's voice is very good - maybe a little girlish, but her narration is slow and soft with very little emotion. Now, maybe I'm confused about the heroine's personality but I pictured her as a strong, no nonsense type of woman (except when it comes to ghosts). This audio book does not put that across to me.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Don't know - I'll have to buy the book to find out.

The best book in the series yet!!!

The crazy world that Charlie lives in just keeps getting more dangerous. How is it she is constantly dragged in to chase down serial killers when all she wants to do is study them so that she can learn how to stop them?!

This time Kaminsky's sister has been taken and Lena discovers a serial killer that no one has picked up on and he has her sister! Charlie doesn't want to get caught up in another search for a killer but she cannot turn Lena down.

This third installment of the series has more heart pounding, nail biting, edge of your seat madness than ever before! And worse...it ends on a cliffhanger!!!

I'm on "Team Bartoli"

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would, as long as the person can suspend belief to deal with the main character's nonsensical affection for a dead guy. I just don't get it... Maybe its because I have background in Forensic Psychology (the background of the main character), but that for me is the main draw of this series, not the romance that I just can't seem to get into.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I love Tam, Charlotte's psychic friend. She sees sense and is a nice voice of reason to her friend.

Which scene was your favorite?

I do have to hand it to Karen Robards, she knows how to get her characters into some very nasty situations and keep the tension going even if we, the readers, are reasonably sure things will end up all right. The finale in this one didn't quite go down how I thought, but it was satisfying.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The ending was nice and tense, but I was expecting it

Any additional comments?

It's frustrating reading a series in which I am not interested in the "romance", or the main character constantly checking out the dead guy over the nice living guy, but the murder cases are excellent. I wish the focus was on them rather than the infatuation with Michael, though it wasn't as frequent in this one as it was in the second one.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed and I cried and I loved every word.

Any additional comments?

The worst part of this book is the end and knowing I have to wait until the next book to find out what’s next.
