I tried to return the book when in the first four chapters this strong female heroine was hanging from a window ledge with 6 feet between her and the ground and she's afraid to jump. Her stalker is knocking the building down and she’s afraid to jump from the first floor. She has to be convinced by the hero to jump but it’s brought up later as so brave. Maybe if she was jumping from multiple stories of some height, but from the first floor?
Evidently, this is also part of a series and I picked the third or fourth book. Don’t worry though - the first two chapters are spent jumping back and forth giving you details from previous books and there is more background throughout the book. If you follow the series, I suppose you’ll be happy there are at least two chapters in the middle of the book catching up with previous characters while they protect the heroine and all of the couples discuss their feelings and the obstacles they had to overcome for their relationships and how the main characters, Shayne and Noah, need to get over their self doubt and problems.
This was not the action packed novel of Texas/FBI heroes I was looking for.
The narrator did okay with about 3 voices but that was her range. It would have been better with a male counterpart. The book jumped between POVs without warning many times and I had no idea someone new was talking.
I gave it three*** because it’s not the worst I’ve read, it’s fairly clean, which I appreciate, and it touches on real feelings and had good action though not as developed as I expected.
Listen to Taylor Moore for good Texas cowboy/ DEA action/romance or Suzanne Brockmann SEAL teams (in the U.S.) action.
Okay but not what I’d hoped
