About this listen

Christmas Eve, and the Lee family's reunion is shattered by a deafening crash of furniture and a high-pitched wailing scream. Upstairs, the tyrannical Simeon Lee lies dead in a pool of blood, his throat slashed.

When Hercule Poirot offers to assist, he finds an atmosphere not of mourning but of mutual suspicion. It seems everyone had their own reason to hate the old man....

One of the all time favoritves

Where does Hercule Poirot's Christmas rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I enjoy listening to all Agatha Christie's Poirot books, but this one is definitely one of the best plot-wise. Although some of the revelations could have been anticipated, the final discovery of the murderer had me actually gasping. Also, while in The Hollow and the Halloween Party Poirot uncovers the truth, his presence in the narrative is relatively small and doesn't begin until much later in the book, however, here he has the most timely entrance and keeps the reader captivated.

Good story, great narrator

I enjoyed this book much more because of the narrator. Unique voices for all characters that stayed consistent, and an easy, clear cadance that made it easy to keep up with and interesting to listen to.

Poirot never disappoints!

This was very entertaining with the typical— just about everyone has a motive but you don’t see the end coming! Enjoyed the narration as well!

Love it

Hugh Fraser is fantastic as always. He makes it easy to distinguish one character from the other, while still making them sound natural. The story hints at the identity of the killer but a slew of possible suspects hold one in suspense till the end.

What is this accent Hugh????

This is the second Agatha Christie novel I’ve listened to barricaded by Hugh Fraser and he does a good job but his South African accent makes the character sound like a Scottish Count Dracula. I expected better Hastings!!
