Publisher's summary

“I’m used to hiding in the background...but he makes me feel like I’m the only man on earth.”

Beck Powell is used to skirting below the radar. Growing up with his abusive uncle has left him awkward and reclusive, clinging to the edges of the new life he’s built for himself in the small town of Harlan. But when he meets a mountain of a man who lights him up inside, Beck’s initial fear succumbs to a growing and ever-present attraction.

“Shh, mi tesoro. He’ll never get to you again.”

Jamie Flores might look like a big, grumpy grizzly bear, but he takes his oath to protect and serve with all the dedication it inspires. A straight shooter who lives by the law, it kills him that Beck has ever known what it means to be afraid. Jamie’s patience and kindness are enough to break through Beck’s self-protective walls...but when both of their pasts come back to haunt them, can Jamie reach Beck before it’s too late?

They build them big in the town of Harlan, Colorado - where the winters are beautiful and the mountain men are gorgeous. Listen along as we join them in Harlan, where the pain of the past drips away as these sexy, rugged mountain men find their true loves and embrace a lifestyle of happily ever afters. This audiobook and every other audiobook in the For You series can be listened to in any order.

enjoyed it

Would I listen to it again: yes
Did the story keep me engaged: yes
Was I invested in the characters: yes

Story comment: nice pace, engaging characters and a wonderfully written story bringing together Beck (scarred from childhood abuse) and Jamie (a cop with a caring nature) who learn, love and trust help to heal.

Guillaume Dubois did a great job bringing Here for You to life. I had no problem distinguishing characters or feeling the emotions of the story, he captures Becks innocence and Jamie's caring nature delightfully.

Narration makes this

The narration is done amazingly well. Overall story is good. The relationship seems a little rushed while the comflicts seem a little over drawn out. This is my first book in the series and it can be done as a stand alone with no problem. Generally an enjoyable listen with a few twists.

dark undertones

This storyline takes a walk on the dark side. but the real message I took from this was that love is good and helped heal old wounds for both guys. I liked seeing Jamie find a worthy and good partner. I was happy to see Beck come out of his shell with Jamie and begin to live life. The next book sneak peek sounds intriguing. I enjoyed the narrator's voice and expressions, and it added to my positive experience.

A Must Have!

This is the fourth book in the For You Series with developed characters. Beck is scarred from his childhood abuse and Jamie is a cop with a caring nature. This is a beautiful journey of healing and the importance of communication. I love the dynamic between these two characters. The narration was very well done.

How a lost boy became a man

Beck Powell was an abused by his uncle as a child. He got away and went to Harla, Colorado and began working in a book shop/coffee shop.

Jamie Flores enters the shop and sparks fly between them. It takes Jamie a while to help Beck find his confidence. They become boyfriends and all goes well until Jamie's ex re-appears.
From that point on Beck lives a nightmare when his uncle has him kidnapped so the uncle can continue to abuse him.
I'll leave the rest of the story to be listened to.

Nice continuation

I was glad to see Jamie in town and loving it. Beck was a quiet and skittish young guy who was working with Gavin. When Jamie, a cop, sees Beck for the first time, he knows that there is something traumatic that happened and has this desire to help him. Very (very) quickly, Jamie is falling for Beck. He doesn’t want to pressure him, but somehow things move very quickly between the two. I wish there was more communication rather than Jamie just seeing Beck as weak (we’ll, he says he doesn’t, but sometimes the way he was talking or thinking in the book made me feel like he did a bit) and try to keep things from him so it wouldn’t hurt or upset him.

The ending was a bit weird and almost like it was additional plot added for the sake of drama versus strong story (I felt like it could’ve been simplified). The good thing that came out of it, though, was that it made Beck and Jamie stronger.

I enjoyed the story overall, and I am looking forward to more in the series.

Moving!

This audio book is a beautiful story about the journey of Beck, with his childhood trauma, and Jamie, with his healing presence. It tells a story of building trust and overcoming obstacles which to a certain extent we can all relate to. We all have our own personal challenges and issues that we struggle with and the author does well in letting be part of each of the main characters' unique narrative. Hopefully, we can have our own Jamie or maybe even be our own Jamie.

Swooned for Officer Flores!

Narration: I just want to say, WOW to narrator Guillaume Dubois - this is my first listening of him and I’m impressed! He brought J.P. Oliver’s Jamie and Beck to life! When I first read Here For You, I’d thought about how hard it might be to nail Jamie’s Spanish and capture Beck’s innocence. Well he nailed it! 5 stars indeed; I’m looking forward to finding more audiobooks narrated by him.

Story: Here For You is an m/m romance about Beck, a young man, who’s abusive childhood caused him to run away and start a new life, mostly sheltered and cautious of people he doesn’t know. He basically closes himself from people except for his friend Jay and Gavin. He then meets (and eventually befriends) Officer Jamie Flores, our gentle (sexy) giant, who teaches Beck to be strong and brave, make eye contact to gain the confidence and respect he deserves. Their friendship then grows to like and then lust. Jamie promises Beck will always protect him and never hurt him. It’s only when both of their ugly past creeps up on them, their deeper feelings are tested, and Beck must find it within himself to be bold and brave for himself and for Jamie.

Overall: J.P. Oliver delivers a story with more than just sweet romance, but the pain of one’s past and how crippling it can make a person. He manages to capture Beck's abusive past, his innocence and hesitation while developing a character like Jamie who doesn’t necessarily swoop in to save the day but to give Beck back what his abusive in lock took: his strength and identity. He brought together two men who e been wronged in the past and deserves to be loved. Jamie and Beck’s developing relationship felt true (although instant) but it didn’t lack chemistry. We learn of Jamie’s need to nurture and Beck’s need to feel safe. J.P. Oliver writes characters who compliment each other and he doesn’t disappoint.

Happy Listening All!

Absolutely Beautiful

What an absolutely beautiful story. Jamie is just perfect for Beck right from the start. Beck is traumatized due to past abuse and Jamie recognizes that right away. I love how patient and careful Jamie is with Beck, it's exactly what he needs. They are perfect together and I love watching Beck becoming more confident little by little with Jamie's love and encouragement. The narrator did a fantastic job with this one. I voluntarily reviewed a gifted copy of this audiobook.
