Pretty Damn Good

I’m a big fan of Sandra Brown, and pretty much love all her box starting this one off, I was a little Stoddard to hear that this was a period piece, taking place in the wild west for most for books that I have read a mark current to date. But I went forward with it and found myself really enjoying it and ending up loving this book, who knows maybe now I need to start listening to wild west novels lol

Terrible narration!

That man who portrays jerrod sound like a very old weak man. Unlike the Man that is after Lauren!

Loved it will read over and over again

I fell in love with the characters and wanted/needed to know what was going to happen between the two.
This is a story where kindness and goodness wins over bad. They have their ups and downs but Life is like that but we get through it and learn from it.

Loved This Book!

Sandra Brown is one of my favorite writers. Hidden Fire is one of the many great books written by Ms. Brown.

A Classic Ruined by Reader

What made the experience of listening to Hidden Fires the most enjoyable?

This is an old classic romance Ms Brown wrote in her early days. I have been a fan of hers since late 80’s and have awaited the audio version. A good classic but this was the wrong reader.

What did you like best about this story?

Since this was written before the feminist movement, beware of dialogue and content if good old boy and old fashioned values offend you.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Reader doesn’t have a deep enough voice for our hero Jarred who author portrays as the quintessential macho cowboy! His cadence is also poor and not smooth when other characters are speaking.
I purchased this book due to author, but had not listened to reader. This reader reads Invisible with my new fave reader January LaVoy, and I had to skip all the parts when he was on, just plain creepy as per the story!
No more of this reader for me, no matter what author is chosen to be performed.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

This is a great classic love story, and if you love the old core romances, then read it.

Very good.

I like that it's not just a romance. There's conflicts and twists. I can't criticize anything. The narrative was better than most. Seems you can't go wrong with Sandra Brown.

Great Narration-Helps you picture characters

Somewhat of a modern western story and the characters are vividly portrayed by Kevin Collins. The voices Kevin Collins assigns to each character is pretty much right on. Lauren's voice seems a little unbelievable at first, but I think he does this so you get the idea that she is a meek, mild and worldly unaware young lady, which is not apparent because of the views of other characters in the book. I very much enjoyed this book and would recommend it highly. It kept me captivated while I flew two flights, two 3 hour drives, and two 2 hour drives plus some housework.

I'd love to hear it read with a different narrator

How did the narrator detract from the book?

I think the book would have been 2 hours shorter if he didn't pause every couple of words.

Any additional comments?

I'm a Sandra Brown fan through and through. I stuck with it, in spite of the narrator, because it's a nice story.
