Publisher's summary

“I wasn’t ready for this. Hannah deserved a man who was whole, not a broken shell. But I couldn’t resist her. Couldn’t resist this. It felt too good. And would that be so bad? To have something that felt good for once?”

Leo Miles came home broken - wounded and scarred. It’s been five years, and he hasn’t left his family’s land. Not once. It’s not much of a life, but the way he looks now, he prefers to stay hidden.

His only reprieve is her voice. He puts on his headset, logs in to his game, and she’s there. They talk while they play, sharing everything but personal details. She’s his best friend - his happy place - even though he doesn’t know her real name.

Until one day, he hears a voice he recognizes.

Meeting Hannah Tate in person rocks the reclusive Leo’s world. And discovering she’s in trouble - serious trouble - changes everything.

Hannah is Leo’s every fantasy come true, and the badass gamer girl is determined to break through his defenses. But between the mess that is his life and the threats to his family’s safety, he can’t be anyone’s hero. Least of all hers.

But maybe they both need saving.

Author’s note: A wounded hero who’ll squeeze your heart. A girl in trouble. And the family who won’t let either of them down.

The Miles Family is best enjoyed in order.

My Favorite Miles Book!

Leo Miles is the book I was waiting for the most, you do have to read the other books to really appreciate it. I wasn't sure how it was going to play out with meeting anyone and how any of this was going to work as he hasn't left his families land in about 5 years and will not talk to anyone but his family. And it was written so perfectly. Leo had gotten burns up and down one side of his body while deployed in the military and now has PTSD as well as an issue with people staring at him, which they do a lot. Leo is into gaming and is best friends in the game world with a girl named Gigz (they only know their gamer names). One day while at work he walks by a wedding reception and hears a voice he would know anywhere, they have a moment of where they both see each other and then Leo walks away. Some other important events happen that I will not spoil, and Hannah finds herself living with Leo. Hannah is very attracted to Leo and their bond from gaming from years makes her so easy for Leo to open up too. The way that these two are so protective of each other and Hannah knows exactly how to push Leo into moving out of his comfort zone with nothing but support was so sweet. There were some twists and unexpected surprises that keep you on your toes the entire time. Cooper is still my favorite brother, but oh man this is by far my favorite of the books.

Loved Leo and Hannah

Leo and Hannah’s story was hands down my favorite book of this series and the narration added a depth to the story that could not be reached by just reading.
The tension in the final stages of this story was off the chart.

Oh, Leo....I fell in love all over again!

I honestly didn't think I could love Leo's story any more than I did after reading it and then I listened to it and Teddy Hamilton and Samantha Cooke made me fall in love with Leo and Hannah all over again.

Hannah is the perfect woman for Leo. She is an online gamer, has the ability to calm his PTSD and provide the peace and comfort he wasn't even aware that he was seeking. Leo in turn is the protector Hannah didn't know she needed....her knight in shining armor.

Leo is a wounded war vet who has become somewhat of a recluse but is able to be himself when online gaming and that is where he first "met" Hannah some years back but he only knows her by Giggz until a chance sighting at a wedding on his family's land. He knows the minute he hears her voice that Hannah is Giggz. He has a mild freak out moment and flees back to his cottage. Once calming down he heads back to the big house and sees her once again and actually making eye contact with her this time before disappearing.

Hannah doesn't understand the reaction she has from locking eyes with the dark stranger and then soon finds out it was Leo, He saves her from her abusive boyfriend and takes her back to Salishan to recoup. Along the way she brings him out of his shell and love ensues. Of course, it wouldn't be a Claire Kingsley story if there wasn't a tiny little speed bump on the road to their HEA but they eventually do get there. This is hands down my favorite Miles book!

Leo and Hannah - my favorite book in the series

I love a grouchy damaged hero with a heart of gold and I also love a heroine who is damaged but is still joyful. This is wonderful story about loss, rebuilding, and continuing to find joy in living. It is brutally beautiful and has a wonderful blend of sweet, sexy, sorrowful, and uplifting. Teddy Hamilton and Samatha Cooke are perfect narrators for Leo and Hannah. The story, like all of the stories in this series, is filled with three dimensional characters and relatable situations, along with simmering and overwhelming feelings, all wrapped up in so much love. It has all the feels - sweet moments, fan your face steamy, hilarity, tearful scenes, and heart squeezing love. Leo was burned on a large portion of his body while he was in the military. He has PTSD, agoraphobia and suffers from panic attacks. He lives on his family’s large winery and interacts with few outsiders. Leo is a gamer and one of his closest friends for a number of years has been a female gamer who he’s never met IRL and does not know her name or location. Hannah is Leo’s gamer friend. She’s in an abusive relationship that she’s trying to figure out how to leave. Leo recognizes his gamer friend’s voice from a woman at a wedding reception being held at his winery and thus begins the inevitable journey to their HEA. Leo and Hannah just have to learn that their sharp edges, which are a result of their past traumas, fit beautifully together and together they can overcome their fears in order to find their way to their HEA together. There is growth for both characters in this story and for the family as a whole. This growth is written in such a believable and relatable way that you feel part of the story. Claire Kingsley excels at creating beautiful, rich, loving and fun small towns full of wonderful families. The story arc of the cheating dad is continued in this book with a racheting up of the danger. So while it is a stand alone, to get the full depth of the story, the series should be read in order.

Just better and better

This is the 4th book in the miles series. This is the one I was waiting for i just figured Leo story had to be good and was it was awesome she did not disappoint me at all i was sitting on the edge of my chair with what was going to happen next it was just a great story. This whole series has just been phenomenal. I'm sad that I only have one more book left. The narrators of course did an excellent job but I would expect nothing but that from Teddy and Samantha.
