Publisher's summary

Jackson Young has gone into hiding. Fighting to get his name cleared and his truth heard, he’s followed Fletcher Doherty to Ireland for a safe haven from those who want to silence his story.

As they work on Jackson's biography, their growing attraction gets harder resist. Fletcher's made it clear though — their professional boundary isn't to be crossed, especially with so many loose threads from each of their pasts left hanging.

But as he learns more about the once coveted celebrity's rise to fame, and the manipulation and control that came with it, Fletcher finds it increasingly difficult to distance himself from their intimate moments. Lust fueled attraction is easy to ignore, but an emotional connection is harder to deny.

Surrounded by Fletcher's meddling family, and ex boyfriends who still harbor feelings of being jilted, Jackson has to play the part of his lifetime. Can he prove that he does have talent and win Fletcher's heart as well as his trust?

And can he do it all before their idyllic hideaway is compromised?

Hide to Seek is the second book in the London Lies trilogy and is a slow burn, hurt/comfort, romantic suspense series.

The plot thickens

I had to immediately start this after book 1, I had to know what Jackson remembered.

In this book Jackson and Fletcher are hiding out in middle of nowhere trying to write Jackson's story. Things aren't going to be as easy as they hoped. meddling ex boyfriends, crazy italian hitman, and finally having to confront these feelings that combust between them wherever they are in the same room or alone honestly.

There is more romance in this book than in book 1 but again it fits in with the story and character development.

I enjoyed the narrator a lot more in this book, especially anytime he was narrating Fletcher.

A compelling sequel with twists and turns!

This is book Two in the London Lies Triology and must be read in the series order. It is not a standalone!

While the first book was more action than romance. Book 2 gives us what we were waiting for.
More relationship time with Jackson and Fletcher. Seeing their relationship slowly evolve and the chemistry between them sizzle was absolutely satisfying.

This book was as interesting as book 1 and it kept me engaged from the very beginning.
The writing style was compelling and the characters were more fleshed out which I loved.

Piers Ryman as always performed a stellar audio delivery which made this all the more enjoyable to listen to.

Fletcher and his Jacks

Middle books in trilogies often suffer from saggy middle syndrome. To be clear – this book isn’t that way at all. The story picks up from where book 1 left off – with Jackson and Fletcher on the run. They head to Fletcher’s family home in Ireland because, frankly, they’ve no where else to go. Fletcher’s family are happy to see him, to be sure, but there’s an underlying tension. Fletcher abandoned his family to go live the glamorous life in London with no thought for how the family would fare. Yes, his sisters are able to help out, but his father needs a man around to do much of the work now that he’s getting older. The family also miss Fletcher and want him to come home.

But Fletcher had another reason for leaving. He’d been caught in a compromising position with another young man from the town. Another man who makes it clear he’d be happy to take off where they left off. Into all this comes Jackson. They’d hoped he might fly under the radar but Fletcher’s young intrepid sister spills the beans. Then hits on Jackson. Whether she’s blind to the growing attraction between Jackson and her brother or just wants a fling is another story.

The men aren’t safe, though, and their location is revealed. Trouble comes knocking and Jackson gets into some serious trouble.

And then the men go on the run again.

Some questions still remain unanswered. Who killed Jackson’s girlfriend? Why did his best friend confess and then kill himself? Why are people still after him? How does his career as a mega star fit into all this?

Oh, and Fletcher’s still trying to write Jackson’s biography. Although those professional lines are definitely blurring.

I want to give a special nod to Jackson’s growing realization of what’s involved in running a farm. Too often we city folk take our food for granted without any thought of where it comes from. There was a particularly poignant moment that has stuck with me that needed a mention.

I can’t wait for the next book and am glad I’m going to be able to get there right away. Finally, a quick word about Piers Ryman. He’s a great narrator and he suits this series perfectly. Definitely he’s along for this rollercoaster ride.

Who knew I could love the middle book of a trilogy

This is the second book in C.F. White’s London Lies trilogy. While it is a full and truly enjoyable story – it doesn’t really stand on it’s own. You’ll want to listen to Fade to Blank first. As such, this review may contain spoilers to the first book.

While the first book was very much mystery/suspense with the anticipation of romance – White flips things a bit and gives us a slow-burn romance, several steamy scenes, and some serious push/pull during Jackson & Fletcher’s escape in Ireland. At first, it felt a little slow, but I’ve learned that White has a reason for everything.

The descriptions of Ireland, the Doherty farm, the pub, and more truly immerse the reader. Fletcher is very much the prodigal son and Jackson is left trying to guess at the family dynamic. Jackson’s struggles with simultaneously wanting to share his story with the fact that lifelong lessons have taught him that no one is to be trusted. Fletcher wants to remain impartial but can’t deny his attraction to Jackson.

Fans of the suspense/action/mystery aspect will definitely love the second half of the book. I like that White kept Tallulah, her murder, and how this all began a constant thread throughout. Despite thinking I knew what was going to happen, there were definitely some surprises. I couldn’t stop listening and stayed up really late last night so I could find out what happens next. I won’t spoil it – but the revelations about the couple’s first meeting… wow! Some things are resolved, Jackson & Fletcher’s relationship enters more solid footing, but there is now a bigger fight ahead of them.

The final book, Bring to Light, is set to release on December 10th – I’m hoping the audio is quick to follow! As much as I’d love the conclusion to Jax & Fletch’s story as soon as possible, there is no way I’m experiencing it without Piers Ryman in my ears.

Speaking of which, Ryman continues with a fantastic narration. And whew! That Irish accent… if you were teased by it in Fade to Blank, you’ll be in heaven listening to Hide to Seek. He does a wonderful job with an expanding cast of characters using a variety of accents and registers consistently throughout both books.

not over yet!!??

Everyone seems in such a rush to condemn Jax
(judge, jury, and executioner) and this is making me furious. Smells of a coverup!!! The buy offs, manipulation , coercion , and conniving is stressing me out. I was shattered when Diego took Jax. By chapter 23 I was full on bawling at the unfairness of it all. I have great hopes for positive outcomes in the next book. I need it. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a great job with voices and accents bringing the characters to life.

Fantastic audio performance enhances a great book!

Book 2 of the London Lies series, Hide to Seek was another exciting book in this exciting trilogy. While the story won’t be complete until the end of book 3, I’m OK with that because I know that the series is finished in ebook format and that the audio has also been completed and is just waiting to be published. Edit: I was wrong, Piers is currently working on the audio of book 3.

Once again Piers Ryman did a fantastic job with his performance of this story. I love the accents he uses and, because each character voice was easily distinguished from the others, it greatly enhanced my enjoyment of this book.

The whole book was really great but from about Chapter 16 on I couldn’t listen to it fast enough. 😊 Fletcher and Jackson have fled to Ireland but trouble follows them there. They begin to put together the pieces of a much bigger puzzle than what they realized was happening.

I have not previously read the stories and, as much as I want to continue right now and find out what happens, I will wait for the audiobook so I can experience the final chapter in this amazing series in the same way that I’ve experienced books one and two, listening to Piers Ryman.

A complimentary copy of this audiobook was provided to me but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author and/or narrator.

a wonderful second installment

Gah! Book 2 of this series sees Fletcher and Jackson facing dangers, family, and each other. It's every single thing you want in a book 2. Book 1 was a slow burn, Book 2 was on fire! Fletcher and Jackson are trying to stay off the radar, hiding at Fletcher's family farm. Jackson is trying to remember the night his life came crashing down. But the danger follows them, and there's new drama for Fletcher to face with his pasy too. The plot kept me rapt, my heart would race right along with Fletcher and Jackson as they dig deeper into the mystery and their relationship. The action (and the *action*) was fantastic. I cannot wait for book 3.
