About this listen

Kennedy brings together some of horror’s best names with a brand new werewolf book. The tales are dark, the wolves are vicious. Werewolves are first and foremost, monsters, and in this audiobook, you will fear their fangs and cower from their claws. It’s time to grab your silver bullets, and get ready for some mayhem.

This is an excellent selection of werewolf tales. I listened to this on Audible, and the narrator, Rain Corbyn, does a great job of bringing these tales to life in a different way. It opens with a bang with a story by Kevin J. Kennedy. It is filled with sex, gore, and feminist werewolves.

Werewolves have been used many times as coming-of-age tales. I really enjoyed Last Dance by Tom Deady because it used a different type of werewolf, the Lougarou. These beasts originate from Cajun and Creole myths. He touches on all of the things and emotions that teens go through and is very relatable. I also liked that he created a unique world and rules for the Lougarou transformation process.

They’ve also been used as symbols for familial secrets and guilt. Inherent by Candace Nola does this beautifully and viscerally.

It ends with Almost Never by Edward Lee. It begins as a crime against a young girl and her grandfather but soon evolves into something else. The twist was pretty good. There are so many great stories in here, with many different takes on werewolves. Many of them feature werewolves from other cultures and countries, which makes it interesting. I highly recommend this anthology in both audio and physical forms.

I am always on the lookout for great werewolf tales and this collection really fit the bill! From the very first story to the last, you will encounter plenty of gore and gruesome werewolf encounters. A few of the stories involve great scenes of revenge against a villainous character, which always makes for a great tale. These creatures aren't your cartoon variety but are truly horrific and will live in your nightmares.

The narrator was perfect for this collection and really brought these stories to life. If you enjoy a good werewolf tale, you will love this collection!

This was a fun short story collection. Brutal and unforgiving, but so much fun. Wereolves are bada$$ again.

Always a good time with KJK
