About this listen

Fleeing an obsessed suitor, Fiona MacEnroy rides recklessly into Scotland's wildest hills and is captured by a horde of well-armed men. Instead of battling for her life, she finds herself swept away by a powerful stranger and carried off to a remote, forbidding keep. Oddly, here at Scarglas, a place shrouded in mystery and the black reputation of the rogue clan MacFingal, Fiona feels a strange, comforting sense of safety…and a consuming passion for its rugged laird.

Spellbound by Fiona's beauty yet determined to fight the longing she ignites, Ewan MacFingal plots to ransom Fiona back to her kin. Sworn to protect his eccentric clan against the dangers invading Scarglas, he refuses to be weakened by the power of a woman whose every glance and touch tell him that she is everything his heart desires. Now, as pride and passion war within, dark peril and forbidding secrets will force them to trust what has yet to be spoken-the unshakable power of a timeless love.

Another great one from Hannah Howell

Hannah Howell's books always have a strong man, a strong woman, and a love that was meant to last forever.

I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a great Scottish love story.

Great read

All of these story's are predictable and similar. Even so I can't stop listening and I keep coming back. I try other books but aside from Diana Gabaldon, Sara Donati and Julie Garwood, (who are my absolute favorites) I keep coming back to Hannah Howell.

This is one of my favorites in the series. Great family. Great humor. Excellent narration. Not sure why all the negativity about narrator. Love the character Fiona.

Fantastic book.

Great book. My only complaint is that there is no epilogue. I REALLY wanted one for this book.

The Devil’s Big Toe

I love listening to Angela Dawe’s Scotts’ brogue. She is gifted with her performances of many accents, her male voices (yum) and her gift to bring out the emotions when children are in the tale. Well, this one has all three.
When the lad asks to sleep inside, will make you pause!
Love Storm Cloud, sorry he was not in this tale much, but when he is, it touches your heart.
My fave of series is still books 5 & 6 and 10, Sigmore story. All 3 have the most wit and humor.
These are not complicated adventure, and I do use 1.25x to match the author’s intent. Sometimes I slow it down to 1x to savor Angela’s voice as she is that good. Don’t miss Julie Garwoods Sweet Talk which started my discovery of Ms Dawe.
If you like this series, don’t miss, Nora Roberts The MacGregor series or Tiffany Snow’s Kathleen Turner series.

Highland Warrior

This story in the series is about Fiona who was running from a mad mad who has marked her face and body as his. The scars were what sent many a man away from her now that she has them. But when she is captured by a man who was also scarred by similar wounds. Ewan is torn with wanting to keep her or have her family pay a ransom to get her return. But her mad man and his past crash into their lives until there is only one solution is met. Will they have their own happy ending like her brother and sister in law? Or will they forever have a lonely life. The narrator kept me listen to the very end.

Scars are only skin deep

Ewan & Fiona
Scared by similar and yet different situations fate puts these two together. I think this is such a wonderful story of beauty being within a person and not so much on the outwardly. I also love the part that we meet the MacFingles and I also love seeing the Cameron’s again. The comedy in this story knows no bounds. Another great story!

Really enjoyed it

Even though every Murray story is the same with only the names changed, I still have loved everyone except for Peyton’s. Skip that one
