Publisher's summary

Madison is trying her best to escape a life of poverty. Young, innocent, and guarded. She’s finally getting ahead when she witnesses a murder outside the dance studio and finds herself in deep with a dark and dangerous criminal.

Archer is smitten by Madison from the moment they meet. The protocol says to leave no witness behind but he can’t imagine hurting her. Against his best judgment he lets her go, but he can’t seem to get her out of his head.

Like a stalker he follows her, making certain she doesn’t spill about what she’s seen.

Then one night he watches her through the window of the studio as she dances. She’s so beautiful, and angelic. He decides then that no matter the cost, or blood spilled, she will be his … his ballerina.

WHAT was this narration choice??

This review strictly applies to the audiobook adaptation. Lilly Drake was amazing, her soft voice and firm personality was perfectly suited. Griswold? I'm sorry, but WHAT?? Did anyone tell him this was a ROMANCE novel? LIke, Smut. NOT a read of Home Alone. I have never been so unsettled by a narrator. I was exptremely uncomfortable. Dear god.

I loved this story, the pace was perfect for the drama and with the PROPER character choice it was easy to imagine and follow along. This is a very particular genre and can fall apart with the wrong casting choices. It goes from steamy insta-love to creepy grooming in no time flat. It could just be me, but I think a casting change could go a long way here. This would be a 1 star review based on him.

Seeing that he was cast for the rest of the series, I won't be purchasing the rest.

Quick, easy read, spicy

Not a believable story, could have been a bit longer of a timeline
But still enjoyable. The narrative accents were not good.

Conflicted...

I was initially intrigued by the summary, which is weird because I don't really love stalker love. Also the summary is a little misleading as it becomes clear that he doesn't really believe she'd say anything. I will say this, and it feels slightly say it, but I think the stalking should have been prolonged a week. At built on the premise of him being her guardian or something.

I'm conflicted because I think there's something in the story that could have worked. Maybe it was Griswold's narration, but Lilly had him use a very similar accent. Also, what was that accent? New York? New Jersey? It's a very coastal accent, and I don't think it helped the story.

The female reader.

It was okay for a Dark Romance. Some parts the male voices did was a bit cringe during the mature reads, but overall an okay story.

Mismatched Narrator

Note: Authors should really be more selective in matching narrator’s voices to their characters.
The story wasn’t awful, for a short novella, but in all honesty the voice of the MMC in the audiobook, didn’t suit the tough guy Mafia image. Instead the male narrator Griswold Addams, had a noticeable NYC Jewish sounding voice (absolutely no offense, it just didn’t fit the role). That being said, his sexy-time voice was also, decidedly UN-sexy.

Good Story

It was a great short story. The female narrator was wonderful. The male narrator was also very good, but absolutely did NOT fit the character it made it very difficult to follow the story. the love scene that is narrated by him was so cringey. He’s not a bad narrator just not the right style and fit for this type storyline

Cringey

I listened to the whole thing and I kept saying that if it gets worse, I will just stop but then the dog fell asleep on my legs and I was trapped. Pure torture.
