About this listen

Dillon Harris:
The last thing I expected to learn when I confronted my deadbeat dad was that he had a dark secret—he was a vampire. How could that be? Dead men can't have children. So, how can I exist? And what am I?

Luckily, I have Remy to help me unravel this mystery. He's my best friend's wolf shifter brother, and although I was his little brother’s human gay friend, he has always made me feel like I mattered. At least, I thought I had him until his mafia family's wolf pack rival forced Remy into an engagement with the alpha’s daughter.

Wait, did I say I was human? Scratch that. I'm whatever it is that can see through the glamour magical creatures use to hide from the human world. That makes me the most dangerous magical creature in New York City...especially to whoever ordered my father to compel my mother to believe she was pregnant.

And now I have no one to protect me. Although, from the way Remy undresses me with his eyes, maybe I do.

Am I a lone pawn in a larger game to bring down humanity? Or is Remy, not just the man I've loved since the moment we met, but the knight who will save me from it all?

Note: This book is a part of the author's Love is Love Collection, meaning that it is available as a spicy romance in My Boyfriend’s Forced Mafia Marriage, a steamy wolf shifter romance in My Mafia Wolf, a Male/Male romance in Mafia Marriage Trouble, and a MM wolf shifter romance in His Wolf Protector.

Art problems

I was really bummed that the author or editors let the cover art slide. The main character is described to be at least some semblance of a black person and states this many times throughout the book yet his depiction on the cover looks like he would fit in at an all white Connecticut WASP tea party.

I would pass on this book if you want anything that has any actual substance to it

there are a few things that are wrong with this book and I only give a review if it's the best book or it's the worst book I've read. in this case it's on the worst book list! so this book is definitely a YA book with a few poorly written adult scenes to spice things up. But was written as though by the hand of a 16 year old. I have never listened to books from this author but I was willing to give it a go. I did go through the whole entire book to my own dismay but I bought it so might as well finish it. The fact that it wasn't interesting at all and really wasn't worth finishing it made the process to finish it an actual hardship. So, first the first wrong with this book we will start with the narrator who was also new to me. As I've said in the past on other reviews the narrator will either save a book even if it's written poorly or they will kill the book by poor narration. Unfortunately, in this case it was poor narration! Sebastian Reno made high voices for all of the characters that seemed to be weak or frail they were all whiny and kind of annoying to listen to. It's the stereotypical flaming gay man look on anyone who looks or acts softer in nature or appearance they all have high pitched whiny voices which isn't necessary. in other words the narrator made them all have feminine high school girl voices that matched the actual female characters voices if there were any. Now as far as the books content is concerned I would pass this novel up if you want any actual action or even any substance other than misunderstandings that go on between the two main characters. it was rough and for sure needed some better editing and unfortunately I find with this book the author needs to add more substance into the story. The last part and I agree with the only other person who made a review at this time is that the artistry of the cover should have been more reflective to the actual characters of the book. the male character Daniel in the book is at least biracial and the character on the front cover that's to represent Daniel is completely White. I feel they could have done better and it's as though they didn't pay attention or they tried to get it done fast. Either way this book is not on the best list. I would give it a pass.
