About this listen

Erin Robinson is having an epically bad year. Her blossoming career on Broadway tanked, forcing her to crawl back to home to Wellington. The icing on her failure cake? Her former on-again, off-again fling is in town, and the sexy Marine is taking up way too much space.

Warren Davis always knew Erin was special, which is exactly why he can't have her. A girl like her deserves something permanent-something neither of them wants. But now that they're both back in town and she's right there in front of him, a challenge in her eyes he's never been able to resist, he's questioning everything.

That challenge quickly escalates into an epic game of Truth or Dare. Erin's sure she's got him on lock, but as the night progresses, Warren's dares intensify, drowning her in lust. But with the past still breathing down their necks, there's no way either of them can win . . .

Contains mature themes.

Entertaining quick read!

3 / 5 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
2.5 / 5 🌶 🌶 .5
Spicy chapters: 1, 5, 8, 9

Its a short story / novella. A quick read about Erin FMC and Warren MMC 📚

Tropes:
Second chance romance.
"Enemies to lovers" - kind of
Small town romance

Erin and Warren argue and bicker a lot, especially at the beginning of the story. I sometimes enjoy this fiesty exchange of words when it's well done and justified. However, imo the two MC's behave pretty childishly by playing "truth or dare" and the first dare that Warren gives Erin is for her to flash her boobs 🍈 🍈 to the town's sheriff 🤨🤦🏼‍♀. I think that if he really liked Erin. He wouldn't want her to show her private parts to other men, or is it just me?

Then, he encourages her on another dare to trespass into someone else's property to get inside a hottub (with him, of course, where they 🌶 )... So...Warren seems to be a bad influence and somewhat a red flag imo.

It's an entertaining read, but let's just say that Warren is not a gentleman, or at least his behavior isn't, even if he seems to be a good guy.

Having said that, "His to take" is well written. I understand that it might not be easy for the author KR to dive deeply into the MC's backgrounds and their previous relationships in such a short book. I appreciate how she kept the story interesting by having the tension and competition-like dynamic.

Happy reading! 📚

So… playing games is a good thing?

If these two former lovers had just talked to each other like normal adults, the novella would have been over in the first scene. But, no. Per usual for this series, each wallowed in pity and defeatist thinking. Other than the ‘it’ll never work, so I’m just going to end it now’ stupidity, the rest of this was just sex, written and narrated exactly the same as the previous couples.
