Hunter James didn't want or need redemption - until one mission turns his world upside down.
He left Mercy to fight for his country and escape a broken heart. Years later, he is hard. Cold. A man without mercy. Part of an elite task force, he tracks a brutal terrorist to his hometown. And runs into the woman who betrayed him.
Evangeline Videl was destroyed when Hunter left. Determined to move on, she finds another man, but discovers too late the monster hidden beneath his smooth smile. Struggling to find the conviction to live, Evie finds her life spinning out of control.
Then Hunter returns.
Forced to band together to find the terrorist before it's too late, Hunter and Evie must learn to forgive or risk losing the promise of redemption, and their lives.

Great narration

And, of course, Evie just had to have her TSTL moment. She jumped to conclusions, just like Hunter did, and she took off to meet Marcus, ALONE. And she was scared to death of him. At 80% she still hadn’t really gotten any backbone and was always trembling from fear of something.
I did like Hunter’s team but the narration was so bad I don’t think I want to listen to the next book in this series, although I really did like Ranger and he’s the next book, but…
Even though this was kind of an alright storyline, it was set in Mississippi and the narrator made everyone sound like ignorant hillbillies. And the MRG (Mississippi Revolutionary Group) didn’t make any sense to me. They voted on whether or not to (supposedly) run drugs for Marcus, while Evie was dead-set against it the others argued about the one hundred dollars it would bring. Also, Evie’s grandfather was kind of crazy and her mother was sleeping with.. (no spoilers again.) Marcus was just crazy in his thinking and I couldn’t wait for Hunter to kill the sheriff, and hopefully Marcus, too.
There was some explicit sex but once Hunter mentioned he was going to spank Evie I was turned off and couldn’t wait for this book to end, all the while hoping he wouldn’t actually spank her before the story was over. I like explicit sex in my books but once spanking or bondage is mentioned I’m just about done. (Oh, and BTW he didn’t spank her. I don’t even know why it was mentioned.)
There’s swearing and the F-bomb is used 58 times.
2 reviewers said this was a CLIFFHANGER and 1 said it wasn’t. Well, it wasn’t a cliffhanger. It certainly left it open for the next book, left some unanswered questions but Hunter and Evie got their HEA, and isn’t that what matters?
As to the narrator: I like Aiden Snow BUT when a group of men are laying in the sand, their bodies half in the water and half out, getting ready to capture a terrorist, and they’re talking in their coms, the chances of them nearly yelling at each other is slim to none. And I do mean yelling at each other. There are times when you’d be whispering at each other and that’s most definitely one of those times. That particular part of the book was soooo stupid I couldn’t believe it! There nothing worse than a narrator whose yelling when he shouldn’t be. And when you’re in enemy territory and sitting in their bar discussing your plans to take them down you wouldn’t be yelling at each other then either. I’m sorry to say that Aiden Snow completely ruined this book and since he’s narrating the next one I won’t be moving forward with this series. Oh, and the female voices sucked. Each male had their own specific voice but the females were just too manly.
Ho-hum book and worse narration..

Narration by Aiden Snow was perfection as always. Aiden had the deepest sexiest seductive voice ever. He always brings you right into the story from his first spoken word and never lets go.
