About this listen

The first heart-stopping, enthralling serial-killer thriller in the million-copy best-selling Jack Ryder Mystery series.

Ben is supposed to be in school. It's Monday morning, but his parents are still asleep after a night of heavy drinking.

Ben waits patiently, even though he knows he is missing out on today's field trip to the zoo. But, when his black Labrador suddenly runs upstairs and comes down with a finger in his mouth, Ben knows he's not making it to school today at all.

Detective Jack Ryder is chaperoning his kids' field trip when he gets the call from the head of the Cocoa Beach Police Department. A body has been found, and they need his help.

Soon, Jack finds himself up against a killer, a predator who ruthlessly chases women and kills them so they can never leave him. The case soon causes serious consequences for him and his family once the truth is revealed.

With her new hero, Jack Ryder, as a loving father and committed detective, a new location in tropical Florida, and a story that moves at an incredible pace, Hit the Road Jack is Willow Rose at the top of her game.

Great Detective story and murder mystery

Jack Ryder is a detective whose wife has left so he has a condo near his parents' small motel in Florida. He's trying to solve a spree of murders and missing people. The story moves back and forth between present time and the past, but it's easy to follow.

It's well written and suspenseful. I listened to the audio version. The narrator does a very good job. Each character has a unique voice.

GoodTwisted Plot

Jack is a detective, a country singer for a girl friend, add in the twins. You have funny situations, witty dialog, given to us in three parts. Have read other books and they all are different, the plot flow, gripping one to the end, with unusual results.
The narration by Adam Verner added a lot to the story, very well done.

Entertaining

I have become quite the fan of Willow Rose in a very short time. This was the second series I started, and while I really enjoyed the storyline and enjoy how her stories all slowly come full circle, the narrator was absolutely awful! So much so, that I won’t move on and finish this series as much as I really want to. It’s disappointing, but his voice and certain things he said really actually made this book less interesting in certain ways. I wish there was an option to change narrators and then I would be excited to listen to this series. I thought I could get used to it and just block it out, but I couldn’t and unfortunately will now be moving onto something else. I’ve seen now, other people posting about this same issue. Listen to the sample of the book and if it doesn’t bother you, jump into this series but be prepared!

Good story but terrible reader

The story line was intriguing and kept me listening but the reader was awful. His whining made me crazy!!

Great Read

Hit the Road Jack (Jack Ryder #1) was a good read by Willow Rose. On Monday morning Ben should be in school but his parents are still asleep after a night of drinking a lot. Ben waits even though he knows that he’s going to miss the field trip to the zoo. But his dog runs up the stairs with a finger in his mouth. Detective Jack Ryder gets a call from the head of the Cocoa Beach Police Department while chaperoning his kids’ field trip. Jack finds himself chasing a killer who chases women and kills them, so they can’t leave him. Unfortunately his family gets caught in the crosshairs and some secrets get revealed. I enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read more in this series.

Decent Story

This was my first Willow Rose Book and I thought it was pretty good for the start of a series. Adam Verner was okay narrating.

M$ Worth

loved it!!! It kept me guessing until the end. The narrator was a little creepy when he did the kids' voices, but other than that it was great!
