Publisher's summary

Alpha Security operative Trey Hanson is ready to settle down. When he meets a gorgeous blonde in a bar, and the connection between them is off the charts, he thinks he's finally found the one. But after their night together ends in a hail of gunfire and she disappears in the chaos, Trey's reasons for tracking her down are personal...until he learns she's his next assignment.

Elle Monroe never expected to see Trey again. The night they shared was incredible, but the last thing she's looking for is a relationship. Now that it's clear she's being targeted, though, she has no choice but to trust this man she barely knows with her life. And Trey's not just determined to keep her safe...he's determined to win her heart.

Some gaps and lack of research

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

no.

Would you be willing to try another book from April Hunt? Why or why not?

Maybe.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

Yes. But the narrator was really bad at accents and butchered the English accent.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

No.

Any additional comments?

The story was good but had some weird gaps. It just wasn't solid enough. There were also weird action scenes - Like the heroine steps out a car and is suddenly in a bad guys face, close enough to hit over the head with a beer bottle, who the hero was supposed to be blocking. And then the hero twiddles his thumbs as she beats the guy up - not doing his bodyguarding duty at all. The climax - There's a room full of Former Special Forces heroes with guns, yet none of them eliminates the bad guy, even after he shoots off his gun into the room, injuring one of the characters. They just watch and merely arrest him after. The heroine's father had pretty shallow character development. The British female character was badly developed - so stereotypical. How many times does one person say "Bloody" in one paragraph! I'm married to a British man and he may say bloody once in a blue moon but also has a wide vocabulary. Lastly - some of the metaphors were overthought - clever but a little too complicated and weird.
