Publisher's summary

An unpausable EMP thriller bundle with a brilliant twist!

Protecting Our Home

A father and his family find sanctuary in their old family homestead, hidden deep in the forest during an EMP crisis.

Cody Russell leaves the city with his family and heads to his father’s old homestead, concealed deep in the woods. For Russell, the only thing worse than failing to reach sanctuary is the failure to protect his family in this dangerous post-EMP world.

Powerless

The thin thread holding the civilized world together has been severed. Millions of citizens have been thrust into the unknown, breeding fear into the minds and souls of those seeking to survive.

After an EMP devastates the US power grid, two scientists are forced to protect their families while struggling to understand the event. As forces gather amid an almost total information blackout, the pair must race against time to save their loved ones.

Cliche' storyline

Much unnecessary use of vulgar language, even by children. If it were a movie, it would be rated R.

Unrealistic View of EMP event and social disorder

This story has a lot of inconsistencies about what works and what doesn't with an EMP event. Also, the attitudes and actions of the characters would have insured they all had early deaths. This story is totally unrealistic with how adversaries would react to one another. The PC attitude and actions along with children being able to ride along on a top priority military operation would not happen. It was very obvious this author has never been in any kind of battle.

Needs work in editing and narration.

1st story had many disjointed parts and narration was very unprofessional. 2nd story missing part of one chapter explaining what happened at pharmacy and how Del was shot. Then repeats part of next chapter when carrying Del through woods. Story has good bones but needs work.

No review of performance prior to publishing

I've now lost count of how many times this narrator repeats lines. It's so ridiculous that there was no simple pre-listen to catch this stuff. Also, she has no clue how to pronounce so much... I mean.. "THibodeaux"? Honey.... It's pronounced "TIBodeaux" So frustrating. And her spelling out Russian M-I-G eleventy million times instead of just saying MIG.

So much of this could have been avoided with a single pre-listen before they released this. I can't speak to the story because the narration is killing the experience. I think she's got potential (great voice... decent accents) but she needs help. You could likely cut off a half hour of listening by just removing the repeated bits.

Loved the story!!! Narrator was ok.

I loved this book!!
The narrator was good.
My only problem with it was all the repeating of the first 3 or 4 words of a lot of the sentences. This, I don’t think is the fault of the narrator. It’s the fault of the editing department! Drove me crazy. But I still couldn’t stop listening.
POA: EDITING manager…… totally fire the person who proofed this audio book!!!
