loving the series so far

Really great book. fun to see some of the old sites from the previous books revisited with fresh eyes. Keene's in your face style is realistic in even the strangest circumstances. love that the clickers exist here too. nice to see the greater universe (labrynth) represented. can't wait for the next chapters in the story.

the reader was a bit monotoned in delivery in the audiobook. found it took away from some of the emotion of the novel. still good. but could have been better.

A good story, but a boring narrator.

This was overall a very entertaining story, however the narrator kind of ruined it. There were a lot of characters and he did not change his voice or pitch for any of them. A few characters were described as having accents and he did not do the accents, so it was hard to determine one character from another. Aside from all of this, the story managed to keep my attention. It got weirder and weirder as it progressed, but that was a good thing. It made me interested in reading The Lost Level series.

Story was OK; Narrator - not so much

For the most part I enjoyed this story. There were very interesting parts to it, some of the characters were interesting, and the mystery unfolded nicely. There were parts that the author could easily have fleshed out to deepen the story and plot. Overall, it was enjoyable and I could easily imagine being in the same position as the characters and being scared out of my mind while trying to figure out what to do. However, the choice of narrator did this book no favors. I think a different narrator could have made the book more exciting. Rather than speak ill of the narrator, I would say that his voice and reading style seemed more in accord with an old 50's radio show or an old fashioned detective mystery. For that, he would be absolutely perfect; but not for this. Although it could have been better and maybe a little exciting with a different narrator, the book is still worth a listen.
