About this listen

Stephen and his friends spent their teenage years immersed in the fantasy gaming worlds of wizards and warriors, undertaking quests to fight evil occultists, vanquish terrible monsters, and rescue damsels in distress.

Now, 20-something years later, there is a real-life quest. Life as a monk has hardly prepared Brother Stephen for the mission ahead. Demon Rutspud is definitely not a damsel, but he is in distress. The evil occultists are real and if Stephen doesn’t rescue Rutspud from a fate worse than death, no one will...

Sword-wielding Satanists, stir crazy demons, super-smart squirrels, magical garbage, and a suitcase that cannot be stopped run riot in a story about the bonds of friendship and dark deeds in suburban cellars.

A kickass distraction from pandemic life

This series is so easy to lean into with one earbud in while I parent small people through this odd time. Delightful and fun, each book offers a pleasant twist. I’ve always wanted to get to know Lennox more (I STILL want to know how he can see Clovenhoof), and I delighted in getting the boy band together for a Goonies style reunion. Just excellent, good, fun.

So much fun!

My favorite in the series, so far? Maybe! What a delightful set of intersections from previous books! And Mo!!!

Excellent, even without Jeremy

Would I have liked Jeremy to be featured a bit more in this one? Sure, but that would be a plot short-cut, considering the primary storyline. This book is great just the way it is, and gives us a nice back story for several of the secondary / tertiary characters. Well done.
My old complaint is that the narrator’s voice for the Sutton Coldfield characters tend to bleed together and are uniformly whiny, regardless of age.

Kul men lite svår att lyssna på

Kul bok, men lite väl många väldigt brittiska referenser som var svåra att hänga med på när man som jag råkar vara Svensk

Enjoyed the story but missed the mains

It was an enjoyable story, but I was hoping it would be a way for the authors to bring the cast of characters together. Overall worth a listen.

Disappointing storyline compared to the rest!

I have really enjoyed this series up to this point and often laughed out loud as I listened. Not so with this book and the next about the apocalypse. Both books seemed forced and I felt that these authors were simply going through the motions of finishing out the series. So disappointing!
