Publisher's summary

Las doesn’t date seasonal workers. Marco’s on a three-month contract.

Lassiter Windsor-March has been planning for his future for as long as he can remember and he knows exactly where that future lies: at his family’s ranch in Wyoming. What doesn’t lie in his future is a summer fling with one of the seasonal workers—they never stick around.

Even if one of those workers is the college crush he’s invited to work a summer job at the ranch.

Marco Terlizzese is as laissez-faire as Las isn’t. He might not know where he’ll be once his contract with Windsor Ranch is up, but he knows three months is plenty of time to get his long-time crush to agree to go out with him.

Amid a starry summer sky, their chemistry ignites as feelings deepen, forcing Las and Marco to decide where they truly belong.

Romance on the Ranch

This was such a pleasant and relaxing listen. I felt like I was pulled right onto a ranch in Wyoming! The narrator Aaron had a very nice down to earth voice which fit this setting the characters nicely. I loved that these two spent quiet nights under the clear country sky together. I am a big outdoor and horsey kind of girl, so I was all about how they spent their time together. It was subtle and romantic. These two were definitely opposites so most of the drama comes from Las being wary while Marco tries to convince him that he genuinely wants to stay and that he loved Las and the ranch. I would love to see more new romance stories for some of the wonderful side characters and catch up with Marco and Las.

Loved this story.

I loved Marco and Lass story. The imagery of the landscape was perfection. I could just imagine it.
This is a no angst story for me as there was communication when there might be a conflict.

Lass knows his future and that is on his ranch. He keeps to himself relationship wise as he was burnt by his ex. He didn’t want to start anything with any part time help that will just be moving on.

Marco, college graduate, is wondering what is next for him. He did not have his after college graduation planned out. He gets a summer job offer from Lass.

What is more perfect to see two people pining for each other in such a beautiful setting. I love friends to lovers trope and Amy nailed it for me.

I really enjoyed the narration of which made me feel like I was right there on those beautiful dates with the men

Las and Marco 🥰

First time listen of anything Amy, and I currently have the biggest smile on my face. The emotions g felt throughout this audiobook were overwhelming, understandable, and heartfelt. The star-gazing date nights were to die for, and sleeping in the tents in the Wyoming mountains was fulfilling. Such a heartbreaker to see this series wasn’t continued, though 🥹

First time listening of Aaron Hokanson, too, and his unique voice hit the spot. His accent was enjoyable, even humorous at times, but fitting for the characters. I low key really liked Lassiter’s voice, specifically his distinctive fashion in which he said certain words, such as “been”, reminded me a lot of my father’s voice. Great presentation of capturing the emotions and personalities of the characters!

Defining Home

I like the feel of the building relationship between Marco and Lassiter. We see how Lassiter is protecting his heart but the attraction is already there ready to built on. I like the gentle forward motion of their relationship. The ending was so sweet.

Sweet with heat!

It's been nearly four years since I read this book with my eyes so listening to this audiobook was like experiencing the story for the first time. I did remember the basics as I listened but I think I enjoyed it even more this time than I did the first time. I've only listened to a few books by Aaron Hokanson but I can see an improvement in his performance and really enjoyed how his did this one. There isn't a lot more for me to say that I didn't already put in my original review so a copy is shown below.

The book a very sweet (with heat) New Adult story about one young man with a broken heart and another who wants to date him.

Lassiter's (Las) long time relationship with his best friend and lover ended when Ben decided not to come back home after he went abroad for an exchange program. Las was left with a broken heart. It's now a couple of years later and Marco stirs something in Las that he hasn't felt for a while. He can't believe that he impulsively invited Marco to come to Wyoming for the summer.

Marco has never felt really comfortable around crowds – not even his own family. He loves them but he'd rather enjoy his large, boisterous, Italian family in smaller doses. His mom and dad can't understand why he's not ready to make a decision about what he wants to do now that college is over. When Lassiter invites him to come work on his family's guest ranch for the summer, he sees it a chance to get away from all of the pressure.

Home for a Cowboy is a great slow-burn story. Las resists all of the advances Marco makes toward him until he finally breaks and gives in to what he really wants and then things heat up between them. He's steeling himself, though, for the end of summer when Marco will leave.

Amy Aislin's writing is richly descriptive. I don't know if Windsor, Wyoming is a real place or not but the beautiful way that Amy describes it in this book makes me want to visit there. I feel like Home for a Cowboy is a fairly low angst story. There are a few tense moments between Las and Marco but my overall feeling after reading the story was one of happiness for Marco and Las.

I love the rich cast of secondary characters, including Las's family, and hope that we will see more of these characters in future books.

Sweet slow burn

This story has been out for awhile in paperback and e-book but listening to these men and their story was heaven. They are such a good couple and I’m glad that Las took a chance with his heart.

I appreciate the author not rushing them to moving in together and pushing their relationship. They are still young and both have separate dreams and goals. It is refreshing to see the men carry out those while maintaining their relationship in a real world way.

I hope the series is also going to be released via audio. ❤️❤️❤️

Sweet romance, ok audio book

I’ve both read and listened to Home for a Cowboy, and I loved the story. The voice acting was often a bit “sing-song-y,” which I found distracting. If audio is the way you enjoy books and you like Amy Aislin’s writing, this one is probably worth listening to, but otherwise, I’d read it instead.

The hockey player who came to stay

Marco has graduated from college and has potential to become a professional hockey player. But, he’s working on his friend Lassister’s ranch for the summer as a hiking guide, and isn’t sure what he wants after that.

Lass turned Marco down for a date, but didn’t want to part after college, so he asked him if he wanted a job for the summer. When they hsnv out, Marco shares his hesitation about a hockey career, while Lass talks about his dreams of researching sustainability options for the ranch.

They want to be together, both knowing it’s only for a few months, but Lass can’t help his growing feelings. His ex left him and abandoned all their dreams, but Marco is different.

Marco finds his passion in photography, and decides to stay, but Lass won’t believe him until he tells him he’s found a place to live in town and that he wants to be with Lass, but also make his home in Windsor.

Beautiful descriptions of the landscape of the Wyoming land and sky, and a fun story of life on the ranch. I love that Lass is committed to his family’s ranch, and wants to build a life with someone. I also like that Marco finds quiet and space suit him, and his family understands that hockey isn’t for him, other than as a hobby.

The audiobook was great, well narrated, looking forward to more in this series.

I received this ARC for free, and am happy to give it my honest review in appreciation.
