About this listen

Who says you can’t go home again?

For years, Kara Ballard Torrington has kept her distance from the town in Maine where she was raised and the boisterous, often-troubled Ballard family. She’s made a whole new life for herself on Gansett Island that is upended by a phone call in which she learns that two of her brothers have been accused of murder. When her parents ask her husband, celebrated attorney Dan Torrington, to come help them, Kara is forced to confront the drama she left behind in Maine as well as a whole new set of issues that have arisen in her absence. As Dan works to free her brothers, Kara confronts some of the unfinished business she left behind in Maine.

One of our favorite couples from the Gansett Island Series takes a fraught journey to Kara’s hometown, where their bond becomes even stronger as they face these new challenges together—with a goal of returning home to Gansett before their baby is born.

For more about Dan & Kara’s story, make sure you’ve explored Dan & Kara: A Downeast Prequel.

Almost Gansit Island

I loved how much like Gansit Island this book felt. I already knew and loves the main characters Kara and her husband Dan. It was nice to see how they managed their marriage. The love and respect they shared is great to experience even while they teases each other in a playful
spicey way. I know this is fiction but it makes me want to have a love like theirs. I look forward to seeing them and their unborn baby Dillion back at home on Gansit Ialand.

Wonderful book

i like this look into Kara's family from Maine. Dan and Kara are in the Gansett Island series. She's estranged from her big family but when two of her brothers are accused of murder, Kara and Dan don't hesitate to go to Maine and help them. I like how Dan always puts Kara first. This was a look at how Dan researched to prove that her brothers were innocent. I look forward to reading more about Dan and Kara's life in the Gansett series and find out what series their baby will be.

I loved the title

This was such a good book. I love how Kara was able to put most of the past behind her. I loved how Dan was able to help bridge the gap between Kara and her family. I also love how Dan always puts Kara first. Can’t wait to hear more about there lives and the rest of the folks on Ganset Island!

Investigative techniques

Story moved too slowly. Had made it through half of the storyline before any action.
