About this listen

Honey Jane Moon is a scrappy little know-it-all - brave, smart, but ill-prepared to become the most famous child star in America, even though she’s not quite as young as everyone believes. It won’t take her long to drive the men in her life crazy. There’s Eric Dillion, a smoldering bad boy and one of Hollywood’s most gifted actors. And Dash Coogan, the last of the cowboy heroes, a man trapped on a screen too small to contain a legend. When Honey falls in love, she’ll do it the only way she knows how - with all her heart.

I laughed, I cried so many times, it’s an absolute emotional roller coaster! I didn’t want it to end. The characters were so fully fleshed out that I swear I actually met Honey, Dash , Eric, Rachel & Becca ♥️. This audiobook was also made to come alive by the some awesome voice actors, they made the story so much more enjoyable.

Fell in love with the characters

I always enjoy Susan Elizabeth Phillip’s way of telling stories about life’s difficulties with entertaining and atypical storylines. You have to go along with some of the less than realistic events. That’s part of the fun. You never exactly where or how things develop. It took awhile for me to know how Honey Moon’s story would tie back in to the Silverlake Amusement park, but as usual, through many possible foibles to a satisfying conclusion,, it all came together at the end. She has an uncanny way of presenting life challenges with silliness, humor and just when you think all is lost, a few miracles appear to give hope that all will be well, and love conquers all. And as a North Carolina resident, I enjoyed how traditions like Seaside attractions of my youth up and down the Atlantic coast don’t always survive competing with the huge and expensive amusement parks of millennia.

A roller coaster ride with surprising twists and turns

I’ve read this book many times over the years. I really related to Honey as a woman on so many levels. I loved her big heart and how she loved her family so deeply.
The reader did especially well conveying the different emotions of each character.

A book you’ll go back to over and over

I’ve been a fan of Susan Elizabeth Phillips for years now. In the midst of life, I let “Honey Moon” slip by me. I found it a couple of weeks ago and am so glad I did! This book isn’t like many of her others. It dealt with several difficult issues and S.E.P. dealt beautifully with them all. The narrator is bloody BRILLIANT! Sometimes narrators make country Southerners sound stupid. This was not the case with Honey. Thank you Nicole Poole for one of the best performances I’ve enjoyed.

This Story!!!

Another Great Read

Save this one for when you need to be yanked out of your rut.
Emotionally wrenching story that fluctuates between moderate and heavy. It’s well written so you could be along for the ride before you realize it. SEP does an excellent job creating an unusual but believable character and story line of a young woman who gets knocked back or knocked down by life and fights her way back. She comes back stronger or better by searching for hope through a roller coaster, for determination through a beauty pageant and cross country trip, for connection and family through her relationships with two men.
Poole did an ok job of narration regardless of my antipathy towards her performance. I have difficulty listening to female voices in higher registers.

you’ll feel it
