About this listen

Owen Santiago hasn't been dealt the greatest hand in life, with one tragic event in particular changing her for seemingly forever. Not willing to let the hardships drag her down, she presses forward, making herself happy the best way she knows how and by any means necessary. Owen is perfectly happy, or so she thinks, and believes the last thing she needs is a man, especially one as masculine, handsome, bold, yet undeniably sweet as Conquer. But what she soon realizes is there is a vast difference between men and little boys.

Conquer, a very important man in the city of Las Vegas, isn't your typical street thug. Being taught since birth that the mafia was always number one, Conquer has a callous, no-nonsense personality. With his smooth ways, intelligence, slightly rude demeanor, and sexy smile, he's irresistible to just about every woman that crosses his path, even ones like... Owen.

When the handsome charmer and emotionally scarred beauty meet, the chemistry is immediate and intense, with both parties becoming like a drug to one another. Unfortunately, they both have factors within their lives that make a union seem not only impossible but highly unlikely. Will Owen fall victim to Conquer's spell, despite him not being her type in more ways than one? And will Conquer be willing to go against the grain just to have Owen, or will they both realize that love only suits..."normal" people. This hood romance is laced with heartbreak, tragedy, lust, and betrayal, but most of all a raw and unexpected love.

Audible Retry

The story is good but the narrators voices do not fulfill the story line. I was aware of this before I listen but decided to give it a try anyway. I'm am happy this series is on kindled unlimited as well. I think it isn't work purchasing via audible.

Hooked on Phonics!

Why tf does the female narrator read just fine when she’s quoting the character, but sounds like it’s her first day on Earth for the rest? I absolutely love this author, but the narrators be butchering her books and I’m so sick of it!! That’s not fair at all to do someone’s work like this. It infuriates me

Just Ok

This was actually a pretty good listen. The narrators were just HORRIBLE. The female dragged her reads and the male narrator seemed to be trying too hard. The female sounded like she was bored, which made me just not wanna listen.
Really wanted to like this, but a narrator will ruin the entire listen, which is what happened for me.

Good book

The male voice certainly did not match the character so it took me a minute but overall I liked it

Loved the story! Hated the narrators

I absolutely loved the story line but no matter how fast I speed up the women’s voice she still talked to slow and please don’t get me started on the males voice he was so freaking corney and lame it was really bad. I saw some people say they got used to it but I never did.

These narrators tho

These Narrators are literally the worse. The female narrator is robotic and the male narrator sounds like a middle aged Harvard professor and not someone in the street. Who chose these narrators?

DNF

The narration was HORRENDOUS! The female narrator sounded like she just learned to read 24 hours before recording, and the male narrator sounds like he should be announcing for a game show. Worse possible choices for this genre. This is not the 1st time either of these narrators has caused me to DNF an audiobook, so I really shouldn't have been surprised.

Took a min

The narrators were not the best.. I loved the story and chemistry between Conquer and Owen. Winston Jakobi, even Leon would have rocked this narration.. Wesleigh, Mari Even Morae would have been better those are my faves. I still enjoyed the first book now I have to complete the series to see how everyone turns out!! loved it !!
