Wow! This isn’t the first time I have heard a version of this story but the first time to hear it in this context and man is it powerful! I have always wondered how a person could ride so far on a bike but the love you and Terry have for your adventures is so wonderful. The story is written so well, waving the Ironman race with Amy’s life story. They made Amy so relatable and approachable, even though most will never experience anything like what she did.

I read a book a week. For this year, this is the book of the year for me. She doesn’t hold back, shares her faults, challenges and triumphs. If you read one non-fiction book this year, this should be it.

The timeline shifts were artful. I like how it started with one timeline and eventually the two met up. It brought everything into focus and how she got from where she was to where she is. She is not shy about her flaws and shortcomings. She doesn’t claim to be a guru or a genius. She just shows how she has overcome events and obstacles with heart and hope, and in turn the genius comes out.
