About this listen

Hope was playing five-card draw with undead Elvis when the world ended.

Before the world ended, Hope was a down-and-out virgin stripper. Now she's pregnant with a baby prophesied to be the world's salvation. Undead Elvis promises her that Graceland is the only safe place left even though the rest of the world has become sand and ash. Hope must undertake the perilous journey across a broken, unfamiliar landscape to reach it.

Although she finds precious few allies and friends on her path, the black moments never seem to stop and somehow, she must find the resolve she needs in order to birth her child and ultimately heal the world that seems far beyond redemption.

Brilliant take on a dystopian tale

Great read! I went for it despite my reservations that this book would be a little too shlocky and slapstick. I am glad I did because this well-written tale of a dystopian adventure was worth my time. I enjoyed the character interactions, They felt genuine and relatable. The narrator was a good fit for the story as well!

Really good story. Fun and different

I really enjoyed the pacing and flow of this story. Sort of a mini-epic journey. I liked the whole premise. The narration overall was solid and I appreciated the efforts in singing. But I was amused at some of the mispronounced words. I definitely recommend the book overall though.

What A Hoot!

The title alone should be an indication that you're in for a fun ride. Silly, quirky and downright absurd, yet oh so can't-stop-listening-able! Yikes, now I'm even making up words. Who cares, it fits! Hope's crazy adventure was so entertaining, with moments of gravity and lots of hilarity. I absolutely loved this! Kathy Garner as narrator was terrific and I loved the deadpan delivery. Hope And Undead Elvis was a great listening experience and I would highly recommend it.

I guess it wasn't for me...

I couldn't get into this book. The story was odd and the narration left a lot to be desired. Im not sure if it was the storyline, the narration or combo of both, but I gave up and deleted about 1/2 way through. From other reviews, it looks like I'm the minority....so, give it a try and decide for yourself. I received a review copy at my request and voluntarily reviewed.

An amazing mix of absurd and mesmerizing!

This book tickled me the whole way through. The title alone is a great summary of the book. Zombie Elvis. A stripper named Hope, who somehow is a virgin. Immaculate conception. This book has everything you need for a zany adventure! One of the things I loved about this book was the narrator. She delivers a deadpan southern drawl that makes it all the more hilarious. Trust me, it works for the story. This book is way outside my normal genre choice but was well worth the listen!

I received this title for free in exchange for an unbiased review. If I don't like something, you'll know! This book is great.

A solid story with very good narration

You should probably take my review with a grain of salt since this was pretty far outside of my preferred reading (listening) genres. The title and premise was just too good to pass up though and, honestly, the title reminded me of Joe Lansdale's "Bubba Ho-Tep"

A post apocalyptic road trip with a stripper and undead Elvis. Sounds like a heel of a trip to me. Well written with a couple hiccups here and there and well narrated made this one a pretty good one.

Not Sure About This One

I got this ARC via audiobook boom and this is my voluntary review. This one started out strange and got stranger by the minute. Undead Elvis, world turning into a desert wasteland, Memphis and Graceland are one of the few havens for what is left of humanity. Learning to live off of the land and the few plants that will grow all combined to create an interestingly strange story. There was no real cliffhanger but enough of a teaser at the end to let you know there will be another book. The narration was good. The narration kept me listening until the end.
