Worth it in the end

It took me a little while to figure out what was going on with this story. In fact, the story didn't feel like it really got on track until Sam's long lost love/workplace rival shows up to mess up the life Sam has been building for himself. Once those two start interacting though, my interest became piqued. This isn't a traditional path for a love story, but by the end you want these two to work.
As for this audio version, the narration was fairly well done though the volume seemed to differentiate between the two voices from time to time. This didn't hinder my enjoyment of the story; I just needed to adjust the volume occasionally.

Okay sweet story

Who was your favorite character and why?

Lydia, she felt the most real

What does Ruby Rivers and La Petite Mort bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

They both did a good job

Any additional comments?

Full Review -

This review may be slightly spoilerish. I liked the premise of this story, but I think there were too many unnecessary things in this book that took away from the heart of the story. Plus, it took way, way too long before the heroine was introduced. Most of this book is in Sam's POV, which I didn't mind, but the whole first half of this book is him with someone else besides the heroine, and there's descriptive sex; multiple scenes, of him with a different woman. The whole Judy thing was completely pointless, and muddled the story. When the heroine came into the story, I liked it better, but Sam still acted like a douche at times, so I had a hard time rooting for his happiness, but I still enjoyed reading their story unfold. Lydia was great, she felt more real then any of the other characters, and she's the reason I was rooting for Sam and Lydia. Sam and Lydia have some sweet moments together, and I enjoyed some of the flashback scenes. Sam and Lydia both got a raw deal. There's a bit of mystery to this story that I guessed very early on, and I always think that characters should know a lot sooner what the situation is, but it was interesting. So, I was entertained, but it just took way to long to get the story moving; I would've been totally fine if the whole first half was absent. Oh and the whole Romero's club addition wasn't necessary, and the epilogue wasn't satisfying. I've read A.M. Madden before, and really enjoyed that, so I'll keep reading A.M. Madden. I listened to the audiobook version of this, which had 2 narrators, 1 male and 1 female, and they both did a good job, and I enjoyed listening.

Wow!! What a book!

A.M. Madden is a new author to me, whereas I have listened to several books performed by Ruby Rivers and La Petite Mort and thought they both did an excellent performance. La Petite Mort has a voice that melts. I enjoyed all of the unexpected twists this complicated book had. This story is a second chance at love. The sex is intense, but unrealistic in my opinion. I thought some of the drama in the book was very realistic, and loved the humor. My review is not a synopsis of the book, but rather my opinion of it. I was voluntarily provided with this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher, and/or narrators. Sam's sister Rebecca was my favorite character in this book.

Sexy office romance with HOT narration!

Super sexy romance with great sexual tension and hot sex scenes. Definitely listen with earbuds in because this WHOA. Ruby Rivers does an excellent job of doing all the female characters and La Petite Mort's voice is sinfully hot. I could listen all day. Definitely worth the credit.

Getting over your 1st love

Sam is a driven ad exec, who’s engaged but feeling trapped in his relationship. He has never really gotten over his first love, Lydia. After a huge lie is discovered, Sam breaks up with his fiancée and is moving on...but he keeps ‘seeing’ Lydia. Sam applies for an open position in his firm & comes face to face with Lydia, who’s also applying for the job. Game on!! These two have unresolved issues and then more lies are discovered...yikes! Talk about a roller coaster of emotions! Fantastic book and another great job by the narration team.

Loved Hostile Workplace

I absolutely loved this story. Sam Stanton has turned into a workaholic after the love of his life left him. I loved listening to his perspective and not finding out much later in the story the true reasons of how he became this way was just perfect. Made him that much more endearing to me knowing his heart was broke in a hard way. Lydia is a great independent and strong character and hearing her side just left my heart breaking for her too. The banter and strength between these two characters was awesome with the sexual tension just oozing between the two of them.

Tor Thom did an amazing job narrating Sam's story and I really felt like I was in Sam's mind at points and living this story right next to him. Charley did a great job bringing Lydia to life as well. With their inflections it was perfectly narrated

I am too greedy though -- I want more on Judy and Liam now.

Oh the Hostile Workplace

I really liked Bex’s, Sam’s sister. Her attitude really was fabulous. I like that she was looking out for Sam.

I really tried to reserve judgment about Sam until the end of the book hoping he would redeem himself. But I found him lacking. And I hate that. I try and find something about a character I liked and I just couldn’t find one in Sam.

He was a woe is me kind of character. I don’t like that, and then he wanted to be all dominant…And he was all about how fast he got hard when he sees a female… Really… Dude… Yeah sorry fella back down. I am all for a broody bad ass but he has to have some sweet in him. Something that calls to me that says hey this guy is just misunderstood.

I get it he had his heartbroken and that sucks but then he made the choice to be in a relationship and ask her to marry him. If you’re NOT happy dude, then you owe it to not only yourself but to HER and end it.

Nope he waited and only did it when there was a “reason” to do it.
His Quote had me plinking my iPad. Lol
“Jenny deserves his love but he doesn’t deserve hers.”
In the end I don’t think either one deserved each other’s love.
He was hung up on his ex from college. I get it but still.

I kinda like Jenny even till the end! Ha I am crazy like that. I mean the girl would have ended up miserable either way that’s what lies do.

Not a fan of Lydia either the blame game is old. But in the end I am glad she gets her HEA.

Over all tooo much DRAMALAMA for me.

I really wanted to like one part of the book and I did Bex :)

Would I recommend it sure to someone who likes angst, and drama in their romance. I wish that was me it just really isn’t.

But I will tell you why I keep on listening, La Petite Mort & Ruby Rivers. His voice is yummy, smooth and gruff in all the right ways. And even though I wasn’t a Sam fan I was a L-P-M fan ohhh yeah.
Also really like some of Ruby’s female voices the husky ones were my favorite.

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

Mama needs a fan!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes. That was better than a movie. Mama's been 'round the block a few times; this was something special. The audio was fired up and ready to go.

What other book might you compare Hostile Workplace to and why?

It is like Madden's other books but different too.

What does Ruby Rivers and La Petite Mort bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

My headphones almost melted. I had to stop and fan myself. This author and the two narrators will make you change your lady garments.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Too hot for television.

Any additional comments?

That La Petite Mort makes an old woman's head spin and heart flutter. Lawdy, lawdy! Where's my heart medicine?

5 Stars for this 2nd Chance Romance

Any additional comments?

I was provided this audiobook at no charge by the author, publisher and/or narrator in exchange for an unbiased review. A. M. Madden is a new to me author along with the two narrators, Ruby Rivers and La Petite Mort, but they didn't disappoint. This book was written with plenty of wit, humor, angst, and a HEA. I enjoyed this story so much I looked up the rest of A.M. Madden's other books and added them to my wishlist. Ruby Rivers and La Petite Mort did an excellent job bringing the characters and the story to life. I truly enjoyed this audiobook and highly recommend this author and the narrators.
