About this listen

Over one million readers have taken the journey to the world's scariest places. Now it's your turn.

The latest novel in the best-selling World's Scariest Places series takes you to the historic Hotel Chelsea in New York City. Many people consider it a cauldron of creativity due to the numerous writers, musicians, artists, and actors who have called it home over the years. But it is perhaps best known for being one of the most haunted places in the country....

When a magazine reporter is tasked with writing a story about the Hotel Chelsea's never-ending renovations, he befriends some of the hotel's eccentric characters. As the days go by, he experiences increasingly abnormal events in his life, and he begins to wonder if there's more to the Hotel Chelsea - and its residents - than meets the eye.

This book hooked me right at the beginning, and I found myself enjoying the story. Then came chapter 54...at that point it was like listening to someone read a complicated neuroscience text book. It went downhill from there.

It ruined it for me, I was really enjoying the story and its supernatural innuendo until chapter 54. It then became a convoluted mess of neuroscience and astrophysics. Long drawn-out explanations that weren't enjoyable.

The narrator was really bad. He kept messing up his accents and he was very robotic.

I was loving it.

The narrator was boring to listen to. I had higher hopes for a Jeremy Bates book

Loved this book- well- it took a minute to get rolling- but then it was super good. Until the last 50 minutes. What in the entire? Just. No. It’s like having a wonderful dinner with what sounds like a perfect crème brûlée for dessert, but then there’s a cockroach halfway through the brûlée. No thanks.

WTF is up with that ending?!?!
