An extraordinary book on listening and speaking!

This book is amazing! Breaks down speaking, listening, content creation and more. People who don't like this book or give this book less than 5 stars obviously are not listening to the words in the book. If you apply what is said in this book you will not only increase your ability to actually listen and hear other people, but you will also enhance your ability to speak clearly and effectively. I'm going back through this book over and over as its full of gold nuggets on speaking and effective listening.

Heard... Hard to

Great book. Interesting content. But a book about sound and quality that I had to turn way up? Production quality went against the content.

Wow! A must read in so many aspects!

I loved listening to this book! I expected to learn skills for speaking more effectively in personal conversations. Julian delivers and gives so much more, even public speaking. His lists and strategies are easy to digest and put right practice in your life and message.

Really good listen that brings a lot of new information on the table regarding the art of music and listening. You will have some new hearing perspectives after finishing this book and you will not regret the time taken that is for sure. I recommend this.

I was a bit torn at first.

I didn't love everything in this book. There is a lot of passages I regard as pretty obvious and I didn't love some of the "this will make you a better salesmen" presentation. It's also ironic that I found an audio book on speaking more palatable at 1.15x - 1.25x speed...

That said, I took several important things from this book and I'll likely use some of them forever. I'm trying to reduce my use of words like should, just, only, nobody, anybody, etc.. I'm also working on my listening and making my speech "more powerful." This audio book has its flaws but it's undeniably useful.

Practicle, interesting and easy to consume

Author talks about conscious listening, gives tips and practical exercises on how to prepare and provide speaches. These are known but very good to be reminded and releated.
The totally not known and very interesting section for me was hearing.
I also loved those interviews at the end about sound, music, hearing, listening, humans and animals.
Many different perspectives - definitely a bunch of take aways!

A Lot on Sound, Listening, Speaking and Presenting

This book starts off with technical information about sound (how sound can affect sleep and how fast music can increase your heart rate and how quickly you eat). The book delves into a lot of topics around listening, speaking, and presenting.
