About this listen

A young debutante makes a hasty exit from London only to create new headlines on the Continent.

After being expelled from a young ladies’ academy, a disgraced Miss Arabella Jardine is whisked away to the Continent until the controversy in London subsides. However, it doesn’t take long for Arabella to shock her family all over again when an encounter in Switzerland with the irresistible rakehell-in-exile Earl of Langdale leads to a compromising situation. Despite his wicked reputation, Lord Langdale is the sort of man she has dreamed of marrying.

When Gabriel Holmes-Fitzgerald is caught in flagrante delicto with the apparently prim and proper Miss Arabella Jardine, he’s obliged to offer for the young lady’s hand. Unprincipled cad that he is, Gabriel is no stranger to scandal. He’ll do the right thing and wed Arabella, although he secretly despairs his tainted soul will corrupt and ultimately destroy her.

When Arabella’s life is unexpectedly threatened by an unscrupulous enemy from the past, one thing becomes crystal clear to Gabriel: the worst torment of all will be losing the woman he loves. And he would do anything, even sell his soul to the Devil himself, to save her.

Melodramatic

The voice of the male character was so melodramatic at times that I laughed. Only continued to listen because I have listened to others in the series and am intrigued by the female characters.

Interesting characters and overall great romance!

I like this series’s, the heroines are unusually smart and witty, and I like that they’re so fiercely independent—even during such oppressive times for womankind. The heroes or love interest are pretty different as well, strong and virile but yet so irresistibly vulnerable. I’ve enjoyed everyone of these stories—Sophie, Olivia and now Arabella. I can’t wait to read Charlie’s story...that’s going to be a treat!

Felt like I was there...

Author does a good job painting a visual and social picture of late 1800s Europe. Loved Arabella's character... independent, strong, and determined!

Highly Recommend

I’m an avid reader of romance, and Amy Rose Bennett is by far one of the best historical romance authors. She leaves me in awe with her storytelling.

Bennett’s stories have well thought out plots, characters and she portrays the era perfectly. It’s rare for me to read a complete series, but this one had me going to the end. This series books are excellent.

Thank you, Bennett, for a wonderful read.

Narrator needs to learn how to pronounce words.

I understand that the English pronunciation of some words is different than the American pronunciation, for example, we pronounce "Valet" as va-lay and the English pronounce it va-let but Claret wine should be pronounced clar-et. Also in one text it was clear that the word should have been "palaces" not "places". This did not ruin the story for me but I'm frustrated that there does not seem to be a review or editing process on these readings. Also the Scottish accent of the heroine was affected and overdone.

don't believe the bad reviews

it is wonderful for a smutty regency romance with a little suspense thrown in. not instant love but not drug out with rediculous assumptions either. the sex is hot without being porn. the book takes some modern liberties that you just have to overlook for the good of the rest. if this is the genre you are looking for it is worth the credit but if it is not then save the credit and bad review.

I’m in Love

After reading the first book in the series I knew that I enjoyed this author. After this second book I can honestly say I love this author. She has the ability to write in depth characters and amazing plots. I may want to smack both leads in this book a time or two, but a true person has flaws, which is why these characters come to life. I eagerly await the next book in the series and may not be able to wait for the last book in the series to come out in Kindle or Audible before I go an purchase it.

Captivating

I was surprised to see that there are so few reviews on the second book. I find it just as captivating as the first one! If you liked the first one, you'll also very much enjoy the second on of this series.
