Zeke Daniels isn't just a douchebag; he's an asshole.
A total and complete jerk, Zeke keeps people at a distance. He has no interest in relationships - most assholes don't.
Dating? Being part of a couple? Nope. Not for him.
He's never given any thought to what he wants in a girlfriend, because he's never had any intention of having one.
Shit, he barely has a relationship with his family, and they're related; his own friends don't even like him.
So why does he keep thinking about Violet DeLuca?
Sweet, quiet Violet - his opposite in every sense of the word.
The light to his dark, even her damn name sounds like rays of sunshine and happiness and shit.
And that pisses him off, too.

Friggin Zeke

The hero is a jerk and very standoffish. He didn't want to be around anyone or treat anyone decently. The heroine is very shy, sweet and struggles socially. Because of their behavior, it was why the ending was so sweet to finally see them let down their walls.
I borrowed the audiobook on audio escape and really enjoyed the two narrators. I would recommend the audiobook if you want to check out this book.

Violet DeLuca is intelligent, kind-hearted, and relatively subdued. When Zeke comes storming up to the information desk of the library demanding his tutor (her), she's intimidated and decides to fail to mention that the woman he's looking for is her. When she happens to run into him in the grocery store while babysitting, he figures it out. So when he comes back for a tutoring session, she doesn't have much of a choice, even if he is snapping at her like a rabid dog.
Zeke end up spending a decent amount of time together via both tutoring and play dates. Zeke has been forced into the Big Brothers Big Sisters program as a requirement for staying on the wrestling team. He is pissed about it (surprise, surprise) and has no idea what to do with the kid. With Violet's help, they decide on various locations for the play dates. The kids are absolutely thrilled. Her kind-hearted nature shines through in everything she does. The more time he spends with Violet, the less he starts degrading her in his mind. She begins to intrigue him more and more until they start pseudo-dating (mostly having sex and spending time together). After Zeke humiliates Violet in front of his friends one too many times, she has had enough. When he comes to apologize, she completely puts him in his place. And he starts seeing that she's right and he really needs to change. And that he really wants to be with her, whatever it takes. But how to make that a reality when she has told him she never wants to see him again?
This book features a HEA ending with no cliffhanger. It is not very crude, like The Studying Hours, but involves a lot of anger and fowl language (on Zeke's part). If swear words offend you, I would suggest not reading this book. It also contains a little semi-explicit, yet tasteful, sex. As it goes with this series, Zeke is a complete douchebag for the majority of the book.
I listened to the Audible version of the book and very much enjoyed the narration by Josh Goodman and Muffy Newtown. The sections from Violet's perspective are read by Muffy and those from Zeke's perspective by Josh. The do a great job of reflecting the emotions of the characters (it was like I could literally feel the brunt of Zeke's anger). They also are fantastic at sex noises. With their narration, I was in the story until the very end.
Entertaining but Appropriately Titled: Douchebag

Great premise. Great characters. Instead of instalove, the reader is along for the journey as Zeke and Violet fall in love. Both the hero and heroine experience character growth throughout the book, each one being pushed out of their comfort zone by the other.
Zeke and Violet are great characters and perfect for each other. Zeke is an intriguing hero; a man who isn't what he seems but who puts on a mask to keep others at arm's length. Violet is kind, gentle and compassionate, however, she possesses a fierce strength that isn't readily apparent.
Their story is one of the best romances I have listened to/read this year. I highly recommend it.

The writing was entertaining, enjoyable and believable. The narrator kept my attention. I was completely engaged from beginning to the end. This was definitely one of the best books I’ve listened to all year. I can’t wait for book 3.
Douchy Athlete was actually likable

The narration was pretty good. I definitely enjoyed Muffy and Josh. I would read another book they each narrate. I wasn't completely in love with it, but I didn't really have an issue either.
This book was more about the story than the narration. But still good to listen to.
Great book
